Job Description

Position summaryThe Advancement and Donor Engagement Officer plays a vital role in advancing Eden Christian Academy’s mission by helping cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, this full-time role blends strategic advancement initiatives with hands-on execution of donor communications, fundraising activities, and support for special events. This is a full-time, primarily Monday-Friday role, although the incumbent must be able to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Individual will be required to attend back to school and end of year breakfasts, commencement, all school picnic, and donor events as required. Key duties and responsibilitiesFundraising and Advancement: Help to–Develop a planned giving program and cultivate relationships among and with those in Eden’s planned giving community. Support a comprehensive annual giving program, including developing strategies to incorporate individuals, alumni, foundations, and corporations with focus on acquiring new donors, and increasing average gift amounts in collaboration with the President, the Board of Directors, and other staff. Lead capital campaigns for improvements to Eden programs and facilities.

Generate financial support for scholarships and cultivate relationships with scholarship funders. Oversee budgets, progress, deadlines, goals and objectives related to annual giving and responsibilities. Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications. Prepare regular reports and strategic, data-driven analysis of efforts on all campaign activities. Contribute to strategic planning with the leadership team and fulfill team member responsibilities to meeting strategic goals. CommunicationsSupport development and maintenance of a branding toolkit that is specific to the Office of Advancement and Development.

Help to plan, write, and implement a variety of advancement and development appeals through multiple platforms, with a high degree of customization and emotional appeal. Play a key role in coordinating and executing donor engagement touchpoints across digital and print formats. Work closely with other staff to maintain a cadence of regular communications that strategically tell Eden’s story to both supporters and prospective supporters. Oversee the presence of the Office of Advancement and Development on our website.

Database ManagementSupport and guide efficient systems and standards for data entry and integrity, database accuracy, gift processing, prospect research, and relationship management. Identify and document donor traits and creative connections between and among people, events, programs, and their associated circles. Document best practices for donor management in our donor CRM. Grants ManagementHelp to identify, research, and document potential foundation funding opportunities based on funder policies and criteria. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals in coordination with appropriate faculty and staff. Create and submit reports in accordance with funder requirements.

Special EventsAssist with the planning and execution of advancement and development events (e. g. , donor receptions, golf outings), focusing on logistics, materials, and donor experience. Events include, but may not be limited to: All-School Picnic (Sept. ); Grandparents’ Day (Oct. ); Homecoming (Oct. ); Elementary Christmas Concert (Dec. ); Outdoor Worship Night (April); Musical VIP (May); Golf Outing (late summer). Recruit and oversee volunteers related to the fundraising components of special events. Help to create a corporate sponsorship plan that includes strategic identification and solicitation of sponsors in alignment with special events.

Coordinate event communications and post-event follow-ups to enhance donor engagement and stewardship. Assess additional opportunities/challenges and make strategic recommendations.   GoalsTo develop and create a comprehensive, strategic fundraising plan and donor recognition program. To increase giving from foundations and corporations, the immediate priority being on unrestricted annual giving. To spread the school’s witness to the Gospel and garnering support for its ministry by increasing the breadth and depth of the relational footprint of Eden Christian Academy in the greater Pittsburgh area and beyond.

To cultivate and maintain donor, volunteer and alumni relationships with the school and maintain databases to track the same. Physical Requirements to Fulfill the Essential Functions of this JobProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Climb the stairs to reach the offices on higher floors at the Berkeley Hills Campus. QualificationsFaith and PrinciplesHave a mature relationship with Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and be active in an evangelical church.

  Be a Christ-like model for students in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6: 40)Be supportive of the school's mission and doctrinal statements. Education and ClearancesHold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and demonstrate increased annual fundraising responsibilities. Be able to obtain prior to employment or hold the following clearances dated within one (1) year), PA DOE employment clearances:

FBI Fingerprint/ Act 114 Federal Criminal Background Check (Identogo Service Code 1KG6TR), Act 151 State Child Abuse Background Report, and Act 34 PA State Police Background ClearanceTechnical Expertise & Professional DispositionsIntermediate or advanced personal computer skills (Gmail, Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc. ). Experience in digital content creation and management. Familiarity with Canva is a plus!Experience and knowledge related to the management and effective use of a CRM and SIS in support of a development program. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy with respect to family, alumni, and donor records.

Intermediate or advanced knowledge of fundraising principles and ethical practices. Experience in K-12 education is a plus!Maintain a professional, polished demeanor. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, time management and planning skills. Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands. Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission. CompensationSalary commensurate with qualifications.
