About The RoleThe Academic Coordinator is the primary point of academic contact for the academic team in the School of Education on the Melbourne campus. The School of Education offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Early Childhood Education.
The role is responsible for maintaining high quality teaching and learning in the courses delivered by the School. The Academic Coordinator will also be involved in coordination and administrative tasks and develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and cohesive operation.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Delivery & QualityOversee subject delivery and ensure consistency of learning and assessment materialsMaintain quality teaching resources via the LMS, available prior to each study periodSupport academic staff performance and coordinate teaching qualityConduct allocated teaching, assessment, and student consultationsMonitor course quality and implement continuous improvementsDelivery of a teaching component, typically 6 subjects per yearAcademic Oversight & ComplianceManage academic integrity, moderation, and professional development processesEnsure compliance with academic policies and regulatory standardsSupport recruitment and allocation of academic staffTrack student performance and support students at riskCourse Development & AccreditationOversee resource development and ensure alignment with course requirementsMaintain currency and relevance of course content for all delivery modesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead and support academic staff onboarding, training, and performanceFoster a positive, high-performing team culture aligned with EDU valuesProvide mentoring, manage peer reviews, and contribute to governance reportingIndustry & Stakeholder EngagementBuild relationships with industry and professional bodiesSupport placement partnerships and student career outcomesEducation, Experience And SkillsMinimum AQF Level 9 (Level 10 preferred) qualification in EducationProfessional experience in course coordination, academic management and teaching and learning development.
Experience in academic management within a higher education environment. Demonstrated experience managing a team, including driving people and culture processes preferred. Demonstrable organisational and planning skills. Knowledge of contemporary developments in the discipline or field, informed by continuing scholarship and/or practice. Skills in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles specific to the discipline or field. Experience in course review leading to improved course design and student outcomes. Demonstrated an understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
