Position Title: Educational Technician IIILocation: Mitchell SchoolReports To: Building Principal, Director of Special ServicesPosition Start Date: As soon as possibleRequired Certification: Ed Tech III Certification & BHP CertificationApplication Deadline: Will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. The Kittery School District is currently seeking an Educational Technician III & BHP Certification to support students with neuro-divergent and developmental challenges at Mitchell School (Grades K-3).Main Job Tasks And ResponsibilitiesMaintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related informationMeet with program supervisor on a daily basis to share information and discuss student progressReview and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teachers; May introduce new learning planned by certified teachers under indirect supervisionLead small group academic, behavioral, and functional life skills instruction under indirect supervision of the lead teacherSupport inclusive learning and social opportunities for students throughout the school dayAssist in the preparation of classroom materials and class management functionsMaintain appropriate certification by attending meetings and trainings as assignedExhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and familiesParticipate in required trainings as assignedPerform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems necessary Minimum QualificationsObtain and maintain authorization as an Ed Tech III per Chapter 115 of the Maine Department of EducationDocument successful completion of at least three years of post-secondary education or 90 credit hours approved study in a related areaSuccessful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference checkRequired Knowledge, Abilities And SkillsTherapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification preferred including de-escalation and physical management techniques (Training will be provided if not currently certified)Experience with various AAC devices preferred (Training will be provided)Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems and special education methodsExhibit a positive professionalism with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and communityInteract with a wide variety of peopleProvide individual and group services in a variety of settings and modelsEstablish an effective rapport/relationship with children and parentsWork collaboratively as a member of an early childhood teamEffectively communicate - orally and in writingMaintain composure in stressful situationsAdapt therapy techniques to varying personalities and environmentsDemonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and ability to take initiativePhysical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
