Job Description

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds invites applications for a dynamic Educator to join our Learning Team. This is a special opportunity to help shape the way our nation's founding story is shared with ?konga (students), adult learners, and visitors from across Aotearoa and beyond.

About The RoleAs an Educator, you will plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging education programmes that align with the New Zealand Curriculum | Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Te Aho Matua, Te Whariki and reflect the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You’ll contribute to EOTC-funded initiatives, support public programmes for ?konga (students), and engage adult learners through innovative and relevant educational experiences that foster deeper understanding and connection. You will work collaboratively across teams to uphold our values and mission. Key Responsibilities Deliver EOTC education programmes grounded in the NZ Curriculum | Te Marautanga, Te Aho Matua and Te Whariki.

Develop and deliver learning opportunities for adult learners, including public programmes, workshops, and community engagement. Create both online and in-person educational resources. Facilitate public education programmes for children and adults. Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, adult education providers, and learning networks. Contribute to developing innovative educational experiences that reflect national and international interests. Support guiding and curatorial teams as needed. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have NZ Teacher registration with 5+ years of experience in education, and/or working adult learners. A deep respect for and understanding of te reo M?ori and tikanga.

Experience designing inclusive and engaging learning experiences across diverse age groups. Strong communication, facilitation, and organisational skills. A passion for bringing history to life in ways that are relevant, inclusive, and inspiring. A collaborative spirit aligned with our values: Manaakitanga, Tika, Whakarite, Whakarereke, Rangatiratanga, Kaitiakitanga, and Whakamanawa. Desirable Fluency in Te Reo M?ori Digital skills and learning delivery experience Experience in heritage and cultural sector Familiarity with bicultural and adult education frameworks.
