Mid-City Foundry CompanyEHS Specialist Milwaukee, WIAPPLY HERETo provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.Education/Equivalent: Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Occupational Health & safetyWork Experience Needed:4-7 years of experience in environmental, health and safety compliance in a manufacturing environment- preferredKnowledge/Special Skills/Abilities Needed:Thorough knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards in the USWorking knowledge of EPA and DNR rules, regulations and reporting requirementsWorking knowledge of Wisconsin Workers’ Compensation lawsAn understanding of the function and application of hazard analysis tools and techniquesRequires superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, staff, management and organized labor groups, etc. Observes and communicates with all supervisors and employees on all shifts (flexible work schedule is required)Excellent presentation and negotiating skills are requiredMust possess superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projectsAbility to operate within a team atmosphereThe ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressureValid Wisconsin Driver’s LicenseStrong basic mathematics and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferredNature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.Compliance:Update and maintain safety policies and programs to meet applicable requirementsMaintain company safety manualManage company safety programs including but not limited to Lockout/Tag out, Confined Space, Hazard Communications, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Electrical Safety, Fire Prevention and Emergency ResponseStay current on OSHA and state safety regulations and EPA and DNR environmental regulationsReview emergency procedures and ensure all locations are updated on 1st Aid, CPR and emergency equipment and training as neededConduct fire and emergency evacuation drillsEnsure fire extinguisher inspections are up to dateMaintain First Aid, Trauma and Blood Bourne Pathogens kitsMaintain appropriate inventory levels of safety supplies and PPE. Work with suppliers and order supplies when needed. Develop and sustain a First Responder programManage Sharps & Bio-hazard programMaintain SDS databaseReview new SDS’ for health, safety, environmental and PPE requirementsCoordinate and /or conduct industrial hygiene testingPerform respirator fit testingSchedule and Track employee health testing (Audiometric, X-ray, Pulmonary Function Testing, Respirator Fit Testing, Medical evaluations)Training:Determine safety training needsCreate, update and maintain safety training materialsConduct safety training and orientation for existing employees and new hiresRisk Management:Chair Safety Committee meetings, prepare minutes and assignmentsIdentify safety and ergonomic improvement opportunitiesMaintain Employee exposure and health recordsMaintain OSHA 300 logs and other required reports and posts as neededCoordinate creation and maintenance of Job Safety Analysis and Job PPE requirementsClaims:Accident Investigation and Analysis: Investigates accidents to establish facts related to their causation and obtain information useful in preventing recurrences of similar accidentsReview accident investigation reports prepared by supervisors and managersAnalyze accident investigation reports to identify loss trendsInspections:Conduct safety inspections to identify workplace safety hazards and behavior issuesRecommend corrective actions to eliminate hazardsVehicles/DOT:Ensure that the Truck Driver’s medical certification is up to dateMiscellaneous Duties:Help create a culture of safety throughout the companyAssist HR with Workers’ Compensation claims administration and case follow-upAssist HR with Return-To-Work and Light-Duty programSchedule and track all required air, water and discharge testing and communicate results to ManagementCoordinate and assist with DNR/EPA environmental recordkeeping and reporting such as Tier II, SARA 313, emissions reports and inventoriesWe Make it EasyFounded in 1901, MRA is a nonprofit employer association that serves more than 4,000 employers, covering more than one million employees.As one of the largest employer associations in the nation, MRA helps its member organizations thrive by offering the most comprehensive assortment of HR services, information, education, and resources to help build successful workplaces and a powerful workforce.We partner with these companies working directly with their HR department and leadership to hire their talent.
