Electrical & Automation Engineer (E&I)

Your MissionRadical Dot is hiring for an Electrical & Automation Engineer (E&I) (m/w/o) who will fearlessly lead efforts on the scale up development of our breakthrough technology to recycle mixed plastic waste into key chemical building blocks moving beyond pyrolysis, gasification and other know technologies.As an early-stage start-up, we are looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. You will play a critical role in the run of our upcoming demonstration plant (100-200 kg/day input plastic), contributing directly to the success of our mission to address the global plastics crisis.TasksYour RoleYou will be responsible for the design, specification, and integration of electrical systems and process automation for our first-of-a-kind chemical recycling demonstration plant. This is a hybrid role combining instrumentation/control and electrical engineering tasks, ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys working across disciplines.Your ResponsibilitiesInstrumentation & ControlDefine and specify sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control loopsDevelop control philosophies and automation strategies (PLC/DCS)Support creation of P&IDs and instrumentation layoutsInterface with EPC partner on control system integrationParticipate in HAZOP and SIL reviewsElectrical EngineeringDesign and review low-voltage electrical systems and cable routingSpecify switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and UPS systemsEnsure compliance with electrical safety standards (VDE, IEC)Coordinate with vendors and EPC on electrical installationSupport commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systemsCross-functionalCollaborate with process, mechanical, and operations engineersAssist in FAT/SAT procedures and documentationSupport cold and hot commissioning phasesContribute to operational readiness and scale-up planningRequirementsYour SkillsetDegree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or related field3+ years of experience in industrial automation and electrical designFamiliarity with process industries (chemical recycling, oil&gas, chemicals, pharma, energy, etc.)Hands-on experience with PLC/DCS systems (e.g. Siemens, ABB, Beckhoff)Experience with pilot projects, startups, or fast-paced, high-iteration environments is a plusDemonstrated ability to anticipate technical issues and apply creative, hands-on problem-solving in fast-paced environments.Comfortable working in a small, agile team with a proactive and flexible mindset.Knowledge of German safety and permitting standards is a plusFluent in English; German proficiency is a bonusYour MindsetInnovative and creative, ready to find solutions for problems no one has solved before.Passionate about impact and contributing to the fight against climate change.Adaptable and flexible, to embrace the fast-paced changing environment of start-ups.Collaborative, as the world biggest problems are solved as a team.Have strong safety awareness, this is still chemistry!Personal growth mindset, ready to take more and different responsibilities with the growth of the company.🙌 Want to join the ride?Send us your CV at careers@radicaldot.com.We are an international team, so please submit your application in English.
