As part of our strategic expansion in the Europe and MEA regions, we are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer - Electrical (specialized in Control and Protection Design) to join our dynamic and growing team.About the Role:The ideal candidate will play a key role in the engineering, design, and development of electrical secondary, control and protection systems for power generation plants and high-voltage substations. This position demands strong technical expertise in secondary systems, AC/DC systems, control and protection schemes, and power system studies, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with international and local standards.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Design and validate complete control and protection systems based on IEC/IEEE standards and customer specifications.Develop overall single-line diagrams (SLDs).Develop control philosophies, protection single-line diagrams (SLDs).Develop sizing and specifications of auxiliary power systems, AC/DC systems, power transformers, and related equipment layouts.Develop and review power plant overall load lists and power distribution philosophy.Prepare relaying and metering SLDs, protection logic diagrams, and CT/VT adequacy calculations.Review and develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated control/protection documentation.Perform relay setting calculations and coordinate with protection studies.Conduct power system network modelling and verification using ETAP or similar software.Prepare engineering BOQs, drawings, technical specifications, and calculations during both bidding and execution phases.Integrate control and protection systems with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.Apply advanced knowledge of generators, transformers, switchgear, transmission lines, motors and various protection schemes (overcurrent, differential, distance, busbar protection, etc.).Analyze and interpret relay settings, coordination curves, and fault records.Provide technical troubleshooting support for complex design and site issues.Perform LV secondary system sizing and related verification studies.Manage subcontractor design deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements.Support procurement by preparing technical specifications for subcontractors and equipment suppliers.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.Minimum 2+ years’ experience in substation integration and control/protection design.Strong knowledge of power system behavior and protection applications.Experience in protection, control, and interlocking schematic design, cubicle layouts, manufacturing, and FAT/SAT processes.Familiarity with IEC and IEEE standards for power generation and substation design.Proficiency in ETAP and relay coordination software (advantageous).Knowledge of waveform analysis and fault investigation (advantageous).Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving and working under pressure.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.Ability to manage engineering timelines, deliverables, and resources effectively.Willingness to travel internationally and work in diverse environments.Commitment to delivering high-quality outputs on time with attention to detail.Fluency in English (mandatory); other languages are a plus.
