TitleElectrical EngineerDescriptionOur client is seeking an entry-level engineer for its Transmission Protection & Control Department.This position is focused on the design and application of Substation Integration and Automation (SIA) systems for our client's transmission and distribution substations.The engineer will learn to provide application and configuration files used to set up the SCADA, remote engineering access, and transfer of other information needed from the substation for capital improvement projects with emphasis on safety, quality, schedule, and costs.The position will also be involved in the process of working out technical problems that arise and determining the best solutions for our cleints Transmission.Major Job Responsibilities IncludeAbility to create configuration files that best utilize our clients SIA standardsProvide detailed configuration files & engineering field support for construction and commissioning personnelBe proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)Ability to develop effective plans, establish goals, and monitor progress toward task completionKnowledge and technical understanding of operational purpose and application of substation equipmentAbility to understand and analyze digital communication circuitsPosition will support clients storm restoration effortsSupport operations and construction functions to ensure a reliable, safe, and secure power systemDevelop SIA schemes that support the operation of an efficient & dependable power systemHandle multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities, and using effective time management and organizational skills to achieve project team goalsAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Emphasis in Electrical EngineeringRelevant Coursework would include Power System Analysis, Protective Relaying, Control Systems, and Digital ElectronicsPrevious work experience - doesn't have to be engineering relatedThe manager wants to see someone who has a good work ethicKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of basic Electrical Power System Theory is required. Working knowledge of Digital Communications, including DNP, SES92, SELFM, is highly preferredWorking knowledge of CADStrong computer, time management & excellent communication skills (oral & written)Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
