Freelance Electrical Engineer – Data CentreLocation: Frankfurt am MainStart: ASAPContract: Freelance / ContractorLanguage: German-speaking requiredAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Freelance Electrical Engineer to support a major data centre project in Frankfurt. You will work on critical infrastructure, focusing on both low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) systems in a mission-critical, fast-paced environment.This role is ideal for an engineer with strong data centre experience, deep electrical engineering knowledge, and the ability to start at short notice.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, review, and oversee installation of LV and HV electrical systemsSupport and supervise electrical contractors during construction and commissioningEnsure compliance with German electrical standards (VDE) and safety regulationsContribute to power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, and protection systemsCoordinate with mechanical, IT, and project management teamsTroubleshoot electrical issues in live or pre-commissioned environmentsPrepare and review technical documentation, schematics, and reportsEnsure smooth delivery of electrical packages within project timelinesRequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechnik) or equivalentGerman-speaking (B1–C1) for site and contractor communicationStrong experience working in data centres, mission-critical or industrial electrical environmentsProven expertise in low-voltage (Niederspannung) and high-voltage (Hochspannung) systemsKnowledge of VDE standards and German electrical regulationsExperience with UPS, switchgear, generators, and power distribution systemsAbility to work independently as a freelancer/contractorAvailable to start ASAPNice-to-HavePrevious work with large-scale colocation DC operatorsCommissioning experienceCertification in electrical safety (e.g., EuP, EFK)English communication skills for international teamsWhat We OfferFreelance contract with competitive day rateWork on a high-profile Frankfurt data centre projectLong-term engagement potentialOpportunity to work with cutting-edge mission-critical infrastructure
