At CMS we are seeking a dedicated Elementary School Early Literacy Coach (PreK-2) to join our team starting in the 2026–2027 School Year!The Instructional Coach dedicated to Early Literacy at Carol Morgan School supports PreK to 2nd-grade teachers in developing and implementing effective literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. The coach provides tailored professional development, modeling, and ongoing feedback to foster evidence-based practices that promote strong reading and writing skills. While the primary focus is on literacy, the coach may also provide support in other core subjects as needed to enhance overall instructional effectiveness.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with PreK to 2nd-grade teachers to plan, design, and implement research-based literacy strategies aligned with the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator to assure alignment between the CMS Literacy program and the PYP Framework.Model exemplary literacy lessons incorporating best practices rooted in the Science of Reading.Provide targeted coaching, feedback, and support to teachers to improve instructional techniques and student literacy outcomes.Conduct regular classroom observations and use data to inform coaching strategies and professional development needs.Facilitate ongoing professional learning workshops and resources focused on early literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention, emphasizing the core principles of the Science of Reading.Support teachers in designing formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.Promote a literacy-rich classroom environment that fosters a love for reading and writing.Support differentiation and inclusive practices to meet diverse student needs.Foster a school culture of continuous professional growth through reflective discussion and peer collaboration.Stay current with developments and research in early childhood literacy, especially the Science of Reading principles, and incorporate innovative practices into coaching support.Provide some support in planning or instruction in other core subjects as required to support overall teaching effectiveness.What We’re Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading, Literacy, or related field; advanced degree preferred.Proven classroom experience teaching literacy in PreK–2nd grade.Strong knowledge of literacy development, assessments, and evidence-based instructional strategies.Prior experience or certification in coaching, professional development, or instructional leadership is a plus.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills.Ability to differentiate support based on teachers’ and students’ needs.Fluency in English; Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.Availability to join in August 2026.Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.One day a week until 4 p.m. variable by school year.If you're interested, please send your CV and cover letter in English along with the name of the position you're applying for to the following email: cmsrecruitment@cms.edu.do.
