Strategy Maven Agency is a women owned & run firm specializing in Email & SMS Marketing for Direct to Consumer Brands. Our clientle includes industries such as CPG, Food & Beverage, Fashion, Beauty, and more. As we scale, we're splitting our team into specialized departments—and we need a sharp, data-obsessed Email Marketing Strategist to be a founding member of our dedicated Strategy Department.This is your chance to step into a pure strategy role (no more juggling account management tasks!) where you'll be the strategic brain behind our US-based client campaigns. You'll focus on what you do best: building roadmaps, analyzing performance, optimizing deliverability, and turning data into actionable strategies that drive real results.This is primarily a behind-the-scenes role with minimal client-facing responsibilities, but with significant opportunity to shape the department, develop best practices, and grow into leadership as we expand.Why this role is exciting: You'll be a strategy maven—the go-to expert who influences how we approach email marketing across the entire agency. If you love digging into metrics, solving technical challenges, and creating strategic frameworks that make campaigns perform better, this is your opportunity to build something from the ground up.Remote Work Details:This is a full-time, remote positionYou'll work with US based D2C e-commerce clients Time zone requirement: Must have significant overlap with CST (Central Standard Time, UTC-6) business hours—ideally 9am-5pm CST or close to itWhat You'll Do: Strategy & PlanningBuild comprehensive email marketing roadmaps and customer journey maps aligned with client goalsConduct account audits to spot opportunities and develop improvement plansCreate strategic briefs for campaigns and automation workflows (welcome series, abandoned cart, win-back flows, behavioral triggers)Develop opt-in strategies and list growth tactics including pop-ups, lead magnets, forms, and subscriber acquisition campaignsDesign segmentation and personalization strategies based on what the data tells youPartner with Account Managers to interpret analytics and translate insights into recommendationsDevelop A/B testing strategies to continuously optimize performanceReview and audit existing flow setups to ensure proper technical implementation and strategic alignmentTechnical Excellence & DeliverabilityMonitor and optimize email deliverability across all accounts (we're talking 98%+ inbox placement)Troubleshoot spam complaints, bounce rates, and sender reputation issuesStay on top of ISP policies, authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and deliverability trendsImplement list hygiene and management best practicesEnsure compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other regulationsAnalytics & ReportingAnalyze performance metrics (open rates, CTR, conversions, revenue, ROI) and identify trendsCreate reports and presentations that turn complex data into clear, compelling storiesComplete monthly strategic reviews and quarterly roadmap updates with actionable next stepsTrack KPIs and use them to inform strategic decisionsDepartment Building & GrowthHelp establish processes, frameworks, and best practices for our newly formed Strategy DepartmentOpportunity to grow into a leadership role as the department expandsTeam & Process CollaborationPartner with Account Managers, creative teams, and developers to execute your strategic visionCreate templates, frameworks, and documentation to level up the whole teamIdentify ways to improve workflows and continuously optimize department processesWhat we are looking for: Must-Haves:3-5 years of email marketing strategy experience for D2C/e-commerce brands (agency or multi-client environment preferred)Fluent in English - excellent written and verbal communication is essential (you'll be writing briefs, reports, and collaborating daily with the US-based team)Proficiency with Klaviyo (this is critical), plus familiarity with other ESPs like Mailchimp, Active Campaign, HubSpot, or Salesforce Marketing CloudExperience with FigJam/Figma (or similar) for customer journey mappingComfortable with Monday.com and Agency Analytics (or similar project management and reporting tools)Deep knowledge of deliverability, spam management, bounce handling, and email best practicesStrong analytical skills and comfort working with dataUnderstanding of A/B testing and statistical significanceSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple accountsAvailable during CST business hours (9am-5pm CST / 3pm-11pm GMT) with reliable internet and professional home office setupComfortable working as an independent contractorExperience working with US-based brands or clients is a strong plusWhat success looks like: Client Impact: Drive minimum 5x ROI through strategic optimizationDeliverability Excellence: Maintain 98%+ deliverability with spam rates below 0.1%Strategic Output: Deliver monthly reviews and quarterly roadmaps for all accountsContinuous Improvement: Identify and implement workflow optimizations that improve efficiencyRemote work requirements: To be successful in this remote role, you'll need:Reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps download speed)Professional home office setup with a quiet workspace for video callsAvailability during CST business hours for team collaboration and internal meetingsSelf-discipline and strong communication skills - you'll be working independently but staying closely connected with the teamProactive communication style - we value over-communication in a remote environmentHow to ApplyPlease submit:Your resume/CVA brief cover letter explaining:Your experience with email marketing strategy for D2C brandsSpecific examples of strategic work you've done (campaigns, audits, optimizations)Your proficiency with Klaviyo and other ESPsYour availability and time zoneAny portfolio work, case studies, or examples of reports/strategy documents you've created (if available)We're excited to meet talented strategists from around the world who are ready to help us build something special!
