We work with an impact-oriented approach, collaborating with local and international partners to respond to humanitarian emergencies and promote sustainable development.We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join our Mozambique team as Emergency Coordinator.Under the supervision of the Country Program Coordinator, the Emergency Program Manager has the key responsibility to coordinate and ensure the successful development and implementation of the current emergency projects and eventually future projects in education, food security, nutrition, protection, WASH sectors mainly in Cabo Delgado Province. She/he performs each activity according to the Code of Ethics in line with AVSI Mission, Values and Method and shares the organizational culture with colleagues, beneficiaries and all stakeholders. She\he is a role model in understating, sharing and adhering to AVSI core values and behaviors and ensures their adoption and implementation.Starting Date: 02/02/2026Period: 6 months (renewable)Language: EnglishReporting to: Country Program Coordinator (1st supervisor) and Country Representative (2nd supervisor)Main tasks and responsibilities:To manage and coordinate the assigned project portfolio, including projects in direct managementTo contribute to the recruitment, orientation and training of AVSI’s programme staffTo manage projects staff, promotion of capacity building and co-responsibility within the team, particularly vice-coordinators and junior PMsTo supervise and have the final responsibility for all project activities, and verify the correctness with respect to the project and financial planning and to the time scheduleIn coordination with the operation department, guarantee the proper and efficient implementation of the assigned project portfolioTo be responsible for the logistic and administrative procedures for the assigned projects portfolio in concert with the Senior Management TeamIn coordination with the Country Program, Communication and MEAL department, to monitor the progress of the projects in the emergency portfolio, and evaluation of the most significant experiencesTo support collection and verify the project documentation necessary for the presentation of reports to the donorTo elaborate/review narrative reports as per donor procedures and proactive support for the preparation of financial reportTo elaborate any other reports as required by local authorities and/or donorTo represent AVSI in relevant coordination structures (i.e. Clusters and Working groups) and other meetings at provincial/district levelTo develop and maintain excellent relations with donors, partners and local authorities and with all stakeholders involvedTo identify new donors and design new funding proposalsTo carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.Essential RequirementsEducation: University Degree in education, cooperation, international relations or similarSolid knowledge of the emergency sector with proven experience in the field of at least 5 yearsExcellent knowledge of the English languageOther required skills and experiences:Good knowledge of Minimum Humanitarian Standards (SPHERE) and Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)Proficient knowledge of the main Office IT tools, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookStrong capacities of financial management and planningLeadership and training skillsCorporate managing and organizational skillsCapacities of managing of external auditsPrevious work experience in the international cooperation sector in Africa or Mozambique and/or knowledge of Portuguese language is an added value***References required for the last 5 years of work***
