Banyule City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Emissions Reduction Officer to help us deliver on our ambitious climate action targets and support the implementation of key emissions reduction projects.About The RoleAs our Emissions Reduction Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Council’s Corporate Emissions Reduction Plan. You’ll manage our carbon inventory, champion data-driven decision-making for energy efficiency and emissions reduction and ensure our Sustainable Building Guidelines are implemented and maintained across the organisation.What You’ll DoThis role offers an opportunity to play a key role in driving Banyule City Council’s transition to zero carbon operations. With a target of achieving Real Zero for Scope 1 emissions by 2028 and Scope 3 emissions by 2035, our commitment to sustainability is supported by clear strategies and backed by senior leadership. The position offers diverse responsibilities spanning energy management, sustainable design, and climate action delivery.Lead the way in sustainability: Manage Banyule’s carbon inventory and utility/solar platforms, compiling and maintaining vital data on energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and solar performance.Drive innovation: Champion our Sustainable Building Guidelines, supporting major construction projects and asset upgrades for strong environmental outcomes.Empower change: Advise on energy reduction initiatives, using evidence-based approaches to identify and launch new opportunities.Shape the future: Support the implementation of Council’s climate action strategies, policies, and programs, especially those within the Corporate Emissions Reduction Plan.Secure resources: Prepare grant applications, business cases, and feasibility studies to help us achieve our climate action goals.About You (what You'll Bring/what We Are Looking For)You’re passionate about sustainability and climate action, with strong technical knowledge in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and renewable energy. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and bring initiative, integrity, and responsibility to everything you do. You’ll have:Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent. Demonstrated project management experience.Strong technical knowledge in energy efficiency, emissions reduction and renewable energy generation.Demonstrated stakeholder management skills.Sound analytical and conceptual skills and evidence of the ability to manage a variety of complex tasks concurrently under tight time constraints.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Risk ManagementPre-employment RequirementsDriver's LicenceWe OfferSalary $98,255.03 to $106,820.88 per annum, plus super.A permanent, full-time position with a monthly RDO.26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
