Job LocationSingapore / Hong Kong / MalaysiaRole OverviewOur APAC Legal team is seeking an experienced Employment Legal Counsel to provide strategic advice on APAC-wide employment law matters. You will partner with HR, business leaders, Risk and Compliance teams to mitigate risk, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and support employee relations across the APAC jurisdictions, procuring and managing external counsel where appropriate. This role demands a pragmatic advisor capable of balancing legal rigor with commercial objectives.Role ResponsibilitiesEmployment Law Advisory:Support the HR team and other internal stakeholders on a broad range of employment law related matters, including providing expert legal advice on employment contracts, workplace policies, restructures, terminations, and labour law complianceDraft and review employment agreements, non-compete clauses, and confidentiality agreementsInput into employment aspects of supply and outsourcing arrangements and contractsAdvise the business on strategic matters, including employee relationsDraft and implement standard employment-related documentationRegular review of Liberty employment-related policies and proceduresProactively monitor legal and regulatory developments that affect the business and highlight any current and emerging risksProcure and manage external legal advice as appropriate, including across jurisdictionsStay up to date with employment law trends and regulatory changesDispute Resolution:Oversee and take lead on employment related litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiationLiaise with external counsel to minimize reputational / financial riskStakeholder Partnership:Advise HR on employee relations strategy, DEI initiatives, and workforce planningProvide training to HR and business leaders on employment law best practicesCollaborate closely with Governance / Risk / Compliance teams and other internal functions to ensure efficient corporate governanceWork closely with procurement team and advise on tenders and RFP responsesWhere required, assisting other members of the Legal team on employment related aspects of general commercial contract workRole Competencies | Experience & SkillsSolicitor or barrister with 6-10 years PQE, qualified to practise in Singapore / Hong Kong / MalaysiaExperience of working across multiple jurisdictions in APAC is desirableSignificant experience of a broad range of employment law related issuesAbility to communicate and explain complex issues clearly and succinctlyAbility to build trust and effectively network both internally and externallyProfessional and approachable with a “can-do” attitude to interact successfully with senior management / colleagues / external suppliersAbility and willingness to learn new skillsConfidence in advising senior executivesClient service mentalityAbility to challenge and probeIntegrity and high ethical standardsAbility to influence stakeholders both internal and externalAbility to manage time, projects and budgetsAbility to meet deadlines and prioritiseStrict adherence to all relevant regulatory requirementsWhat's Next?Does this role sound like a right fit for you?To apply, please send your updated resume to us and we will take it from there.
