Company Description Established in 1982, Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre (RIWC) is a registered charity dedicated to empowering racialized, immigrant, and refugee women and their families in Toronto. RIWC provides support through a holistic service framework addressing social, cultural, and economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities. Their programs include settlement services, anti-violence initiatives, employment support, and skills training, all delivered with an anti-oppression and GBA+ (Gender-Based Analysis) approach. RIWC collaborates with community partners, schools, governmental agencies, and private organizations to promote gender equality and equity. The center focuses on bridging barriers such as low literacy, language skills, and lack of Canadian work experience. Role Description This is a full-time Employment Specialist role located on-site in Toronto, ON. The Employment Specialist will work directly with clients to provide employment support, conduct job readiness assessments, assist with resume and interview preparation, deliver training workshops, and connect clients with employment opportunities. The role includes building relationships with employers, community partners, and stakeholders to create pathways to success for clients. Additionally, the specialist will maintain detailed records and monitor clients' progress to ensure they achieve sustainable employment outcomes. Qualifications Strong communication and customer service skills to collaborate effectively with clients, team members, and community partnersExperience in interviewing and recruiting, with a focus on matching clients’ skills to potential employment opportunitiesProven ability to deliver training and create tailored employment programs to meet client needsAbility to work effectively with diverse populations, particularly racialized and newcomer individualsProficiency in using technology for presentations, training, and administrative tasksA post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Services, Human Resources, or a related field is preferredUnderstanding of settlement challenges faced by immigrants and refugees and knowledge of local labor market trendsBilingualism or multilingualism is considered an asset
