Because we believe that your career path should be as unique as you are.Group SummaryThe Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.Recognized globally as an innovator in all aspects of vehicle exteriors, Magna provides everything needed, from materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly, to help automakers create sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles across the world.Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral Job Duties:To exhibit a fair and consistent management approach that follows the principles outlined in The Magna Employee’s Charter to ensure a satisfied and productive employee workplace.To identify growth and developmental opportunities and on-going training needs of personnel that will provide for an overall positive working environment.To follow Company policies and display conduct expected of Decostar employees as described in the employee handbook.To persuade and support the following of Company policies and business objectives in the daily management of the operations of the Company.To meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.Specific Job DutiesProvide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for all automation and robotic systems, including Fanuc, Sepro, and Motoman robots.Design, program, and optimize robotic paths, PLCs, and associated control systems to improve efficiency, uptime, and product quality.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, install, and commission new automation equipment and systems for new program launches.Lead or support capital projects related to automation and robotics, including vendor evaluation, specification development, and implementation.Coordinate and deliver training to operations and maintenance personnel to ensure proper understanding of automation systems, safety integration, and maintenance best practices.Manage and execute engineering changes and process improvements to reduce downtime, increase productivity, and improve system reliability.Provide detailed documentation, system schematics, and programming backups for all automation-related projects.Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that enhance manufacturing efficiency and competitiveness.Develop and maintain preventive maintenance standards for automation equipment.Participate in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process innovations.Prepare progress and project status reports to communicate key milestones, risks, and performance metrics to leadership.Will be required to rotate off-shifts and some weekend work.Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.Skills And Experience RequiredMinimum 4 years’ experience in programming and integrating robotic systems (Fanuc, Sepro, Motoman, or equivalent).Proven ability to develop path programming, integrate sub-system interfaces (light curtains, safety circuits, process equipment, etc.), and troubleshoot system faults.Minimum 2 years’ experience programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred).Proficiency in creating and reading AutoCAD drawings and system schematics.Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, sensors, actuators, and automation control principles.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and influence others across departments.EducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering preferred.A combination of education and significant relevant work experience (minimum 10 years) may be considered in lieu of a degree.Awareness, Unity, EmpowermentAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
