Please send the requisition to the approved signatory contractorsJob Title: Telecom EngineerJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Telecom Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) Team. This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the physical layer infrastructure, ensuring optimal network performance and uptime, along with cable management of MDF and IDF rooms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with copper and fiber optic cabling, rack-mounted UPS systems, and structured cabling refresh & deployments, including running and terminating Cat 6 drop cables.Key ResponsibilitiesPhysical Layer Troubleshooting & Maintenance:Diagnose and resolve copper and fiber optic connectivity issues, including signal degradation, cable faults, and connector problems.Conduct fiber testing using an OTDR.Test and certify network cabling to ensure adherence to industry standards using fluke.Responsible for maintaining proper cable management standards within the IDF s & MDF s, ensuring organized, labeled, and well-documented cabling to support reliability and ease of troubleshooting.Cabling And Infrastructure DeploymentInstall, run, and terminate Cat 6 drop cables for new and existing workstations, network devices, and telecom systems throughout campus.Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all cabling work.Maintain compliance with structured cabling best practices and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).Rack & Power Equipment MaintenanceTroubleshoot and maintain rack-mounted UPS devices, including battery replacements and performance testing.Assist in organizing and managing network racks, ensuring proper cable management and airflow.Work with network engineers to install and maintain rack-mounted network equipment (switches, routers, etc.).Collaboration & DocumentationWork closely with NOC team members to resolve connectivity and infrastructure issues.Maintain accurate documentation of network layouts, cable runs, and troubleshooting steps.Adhere to safety and compliance regulations for low-voltage installations.ExperienceRequired Qualifications:4+ years of hands-on experience with fiber optic and copper cabling troubleshooting and installation.Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), data center environment, or as a field technician preferred.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of copper (Cat 6) and fiber optic cabling (installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting).Familiarity with fiber testing tools, such as OTDRs,light meters, and flukes.Understanding of rack-mounted UPS systems and basic power management.Ability to read network schematics and structured cabling blueprints.Certifications (Preferred But Not Required)BICSI Installer/Technician CertificationFiber Optic Technician CertificationSoft Skills & Additional RequirementsStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and in a team setting.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including working in racks, ceilings, and confined spaces.Willingness to work in a 24/7 on-call environment, including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.If you're passionate about telecom infrastructure and enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced NOC environment, we encourage you to apply!
