Requisition Number: 19260Contract Type: PermanentLocation(s):Betzdorf, LUEngineer, GTC Terminal EngineeringYou will be responsible for the governmental technology certification (GTC) of User Terminals (UT), conducting their testing and validation. This role supports sovereign customers on our GEO/MEO constellations and involves collaboration with various SES departments such as Product and Innovation, Sales, and Operations, as well as with vendors of UT systems. Your goal will be to deliver the highest quality UTs to support our customers. This position requires a self-driven individual who can make significant contributions in a fast-paced environment.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and design satellite user terminals, ensuring they meet required specifications and industry standards for our GEO/MEO constellationEngage with partner vendors of UTs systems to support them in fulfilling our product requirements and compliance with the SES Sovereign Concept of OperationsOwn and maintain the on-prem lab infrastructure and implement improvements to guarantee consistency and enhance efficiency of the certifications processesDevelop, create and consistently improve test plans to execute the certification of UTs systems to ensure they meet the technical, functional, performance, and business requirementsLead and execute the test plans for the certification of vendor provided system for the SES ecosystem and ensure high availability and reliability of these systems in our on-prem labs / vendor facilities.Collect and analyse test data to identify patterns, anomalies, and areas for improvementUse statistical methods and data analysis tools to interpret test results and generate insightsDetect and diagnose hardware and software issues during the testing processWork with design and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve identified issuesDocument test procedures, setups, and results in detailed technical reportsDevelop and maintain automated test scripts to increase efficiency and coverage of testing processesImplement automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline validation effortsEnsure that satellite terminals meet industry standards and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing. Perform certification tests to verify compliance with relevant standardsIdentify opportunities for improving test methodologies, tools, and processesManage internal and external stakeholders for the test executions, like providing IT network connections and providing satellite resources for over-the-air testingManage vendor provided handover documentation that describes networks specific configuration, commissioning procedure, troubleshooting guides, and CONOPSContribute to schedule and budget of the on-prem lab infrastructure and certification processContinuously monitor and report certification processes and engage in escalations in case of schedule or compliance violationsProvide technical support to our operational teamProvide training and support as required to other technical staffSupport a community of practices around the platform development across the companySupport infield customer / vendor premises testing, demonstration etc.COMPETENCIESAbility to demonstrate technical leadership on-prem lab infrastructure and certifications processStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, both written, and oralAbility to work and deliver within a fast-paced working environmentAbility to set priorities and work under deadlinesGood teamwork spirit by working cohesively with the team towards a common goalQualifications & ExperienceBS/MA degree electrical/telecommunications engineering4+ years of “hands-on” engineering experience in satellite terminal systems and worked successfully as Development or Systems Engineer or Test and validation engineer. Experience in RF measurement techniques, test and verification of Satellite terminals and expertise in auxiliary systems like Network (IP, switching, routing), Monitoring and Control systems, power, Knowledge of satellite communication systems, transmission standards, modulation and decoding techniques of satellite communication paths, satellite transmission standardsExperience and knowledge of software development processes, integration and test procedures, unit testing, concepts of automated testing of software integrated systemsExperience and knowledge basis of electronic development cycles and related integration and testingBasis of satellite systems and space segment operational concepts (ConOps)Basic experience with Unix system environmentMEO satellite experience is a plusFluency in EnglishThe candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the “loi modifiée du 15 juin 2004 relative à la classification des pièces et aux habilitations de sécurité”, as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents.SES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to providing fair and equal employment opportunities to all.
