__________ENGINEER DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE OPERATIONSDIGITAL SERVICESThe role | Te mahiAre you looking for the chance to work for one of the largest IT sites in the South Island - enjoy all the benefits of a large organisation and a great quality of life in a vibrant city that offers easy living?This is a technical role performing a variety of tasks related to maintaining computer hardware in the University’s central ITS Data Centres, including remote sites between Invercargill and Auckland.As a Digital Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with a diverse range of technologies – from servers to high-capacity storage – while helping maintain and support two of Central ITS’s core data centres. Join a dynamic and ever-evolving team at the heart of ITS operations.The Digital Infrastructure team at Otago University have the privilege of managing and supporting one of the largest and most complex IT sites in New Zealand. We provide many of the systems and services that the University needs to deliver high quality research and teaching outcomes.Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoWe’re on the lookout for someone with a solid foundation in server management and a passion for building their technical skills. Our team supports a diverse environment of around 1,200 virtual machines, split between Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.Our ideal candidate for this role will: Have direct experience supporting data centre environments, including the physical installation and maintenance of servers. Have in-depth knowledge and experience managing network cabling and requirements within a data centre. Have a collaborative mindset with a track record of being a team player who helps others succeed. Enthusiasm for learning and keeping pace with new technologies and industry trends. Have strong interpersonal skills — we value people who can communicate and connect just as well as they troubleshoot.
