Given that we are growing, we need an Engineering Manager who keeps one foot in the code and one on the delivery throttle—guiding 7–15 engineers across multiple squads, unblocking, reviewing, and shipping when needed.This role will suit you if youhave an engineering background (you coded professionally, tinker on the side, or can’t resist reading PRs).can get what our customer really wants—and feel the thrill of turning that into working software on time.understand what software engineers can (and want to) do, and how to motivate them without micromanaging.are OK that our revenue comes from customers and you influence it—through estimates, staffing, quality, and relationships 🙂.like to make things better (code quality, tooling, ways-of-working, team rituals).enjoy a well-defined solution area and becoming an expert with a stable team.are comfortable mentoring less-senior colleagues into your path.You will be responsible forleading 7–15 engineers across 2–4 cross-functional squads serving international accounts.owning predictable delivery with your PM: commitments, scope, risks, on-time/on-budget.staying hands-on ~1–2 days/week: code/PR reviews, technical design, spikes, unblocking production issues.running 1:1s, coaching, hiring & onboarding, and shaping growth plans together with our CTO.safeguarding quality: definitions of done, testing strategy, reliability & security basics, incident RCAs.collaborating with Solution Architects on estimates and re-use of accelerators/components.managing utilisation & staffing with PMO so everyone contributes to billable projects or meaningful backlog work.being the main point of contact for your customers and keeping the relationship healthy.sharing mistakes and good practices so the next squad goes faster.RequirementsAny engineering background (computer science, engineering, self-taught—great; know what you don’t know and learn fast).3+ years as a Senior Engineer/Tech Lead building cloud apps (GCP preferred), plus 0–2 years leading people (formal or informal).Can read a system diagram, challenge an estimate, and spot edge cases before they bite.Prefer moving forward over endless meetings.Have represented a team to customers and held your ground with stakeholders.Speak English fluently.Nice-to-havesGerman and/or Hungarian.Enterprise experience—worked at one, or delivered for one.Multicultural team experience (e.g., collaborating with or leading engineers from different cultures—including Indonesian teammates).GCP + AppDev/Platform stack: Cloud Run/GKE/Cloud Functions, Cloud Build/Cloud Deploy, Terraform/IaC, APIs & gateways, observability/SRE basics.GCP + Data stack: BigQuery, Dataflow/Beam, Pub/Sub, Dataproc/Spark, Composer/Airflow, dbt, Looker; Terraform/IaC basics.What we offerFlexible hours and hybrid work—home or our Budapest HQ.Well & Green financial package for physical & mental health and green commuting.Employee counseling for mental wellbeing.Training and coaching programs + 100 hours/year of dedicated learning time.Private health insurance, snacks, parties, games, dog-friendly office.Access to Google Cloud resources.Independence and freedom from micromanagement.A free environment to try new things.A huge mix of personalities you’ll get to work with.What our team loves about working at Aliz“We have projects from Singapore to San Francisco.
