At Famly, we’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to run one of our highly skilled engineering teams, and to help us build an even greater product. As EM for our Foundation team, you will work as a part of a product trio and the engineers who build and maintain our platform.We are looking for someone who has solid experience in running an agile delivery process for an engineering team, and that can seamlessly tap into our existing product development process, together with our other engineering managers in Famly. You must have great people and stakeholder management skills as well, and experience managing hybrid teams.We expect a quite deep technical understanding, enabling you to participate in the product trio and to assist with tech scoping and triage, but you are not expected to participate in the actual development of our product.The position is Copenhagen-based.And Famly are...? Well it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Come help us make that happen.What you'll be doing:Managing a crew (team) of 7 engineers, the majority on-site in Copenhagen, a few in Berlin and one fully remote.Running efficient agile development processes; building great features but also carving out time for handling tech debt and maintaining our platform.Work closely with your crew's product manager and designer (product trio) to plan out and prioritize development work for the crewParticipate in scoping out work and features, and initial estimation of featuresEnsure proper planning, breakdown and estimation of development tasksParticipate in stakeholder management and collaborate with departments outside of Engineering, where you act as anchor point to your crewFacilitate and plan technical onboarding of new engineersActively participate in the hiring of new engineers, both on-location and remote workingDevelop, grow and motivate your team of engineers - individually and as a crewYou’ll thrive in this role if you:Have great people skills and love to work with and develop highly skilled engineersHave a strong technical backgroundAre structured and can effectively run a agile delivery processAre good at motivating others to do their best individually and as crewHave great communication skills and experience in stakeholder managementAnd it’d be even better if you:Have 5 years of experience as an Individual contributor, potentially experience with Scala, PHP or ReactHave minimum 3 years of experience as a Team Lead or as Engineering Manager with people management responsibilitiesEnjoy a technical challenge and are curious about new technologiesYou'll be working with:You will be working with other engineering managers (6 in Engineering, 2 in Growth) at the Copenhagen office and will participate in all aspects of managing a growing group of engineers, including hiring and people management. You will participate product trio with PM and Designer; planning and facilitating execution of development cycles.Together with our CTO and the other engineering managers, you will be part of an efficient management team that has the authority to develop the best possible processes to ensure that we keep on delivering a great product to our customers.Our tech-stack consists of Scala, PHP, React, MySQL, Kubernetes and AWS and it will be an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have good technical insight.You will report to our CTO.Want to get to know some of our engineers at Famly?
