Samsung C&T has long been active in the green energy business and continues to explore additional innovative renewable energy solutions.We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety Manager to support a BESS project in Mudgee.About the RoleProvide strong leadership and guidance to the project team, promoting a positive HSE cultureDevelop and implement HSE training programs for employees and subcontractors.Conduct regular HSE meetings and site inspectionsReview and update HSE policies and procedures as necessaryEnsure all suppliers and subcontractors comply with HSE requirements and have appropriate systems in placeConduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to HSE standardsReview and assess subcontractor HSE capabilities during the tender stageEvaluate subcontractor HSE documentationLiaise with subcontractors to address any HSE concerns or non-complianceDevelop and implement the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management plan for the construction of the Renewables and Energy projectEnsure compliance with relevant HSE regulations, standards, and best practices throughout the project lifecycleConduct thorough risk assessments and develop appropriate controls and mitigation measuresImplement and monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environmentProvide leadership and guidance to project teams on HSE matters, promoting a strong safety cultureConduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and take appropriate corrective actionsInvestigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop preventive measures to avoid recurrenceMonitor and report HSE performance indicators and metrics to management and stakeholdersLiaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on HSE mattersTrack and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and requirementsRegularly communicate and engage with project teams to promote HSE awareness and foster a positive safety cultureCommunicate regularly with clients regarding project progress and HSE performanceFoster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting accountability and ownership of HSE responsibilitiesMonitor team performance and provide feedback on HSE performanceIdentify and implement innovative approaches to improve HSE practices and performanceStay updated on industry HSE trends, regulations, and best practicesAbout YouTertiary qualification in Health & Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fieldMinimum of 10 years of experience as an HSE Manager in construction projectsCertificate or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (essential)Proven knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and safety systemsConstruction Induction NSW “White Card”Attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindsetExperience working in high-risk, high-pressure and fast-paced environmentsA commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for driving positive safety outcomesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and training programsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesProven ability to communicate and engage various stakeholdersStrong leadership and communication skillsProven knowledge of risk assessments and incident investigation techniquesProficient in HSE auditing and inspectionsExperience in managing subcontractors and suppliersKnowledge of Australian HSE legislation and regulationsFamiliarity with the battery energy storage system or renewable energy projects would be beneficialSamsung C&T Corporation is committed to building diverse and inclusive teams.
