Verdant's wide-ranging capabilities include air & noise assessments, GIS & mapping, and region-wide social surveys, ensuring comprehensive solutions to benefit our clients.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for an Environmental and Social Officer, based in Kampala. The Officer will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments, ensuring compliance with environmental policies, and monitoring project implementation. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating environmental performance, engaging stakeholders, conducting social surveys, and advising on environmental issues and policies.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in environmental management or related Post Graduate training in Environmental Impact Assessment/management, or Occupational Health and safety certificate will be an added advantageExperience working in an Environmental or Social Research consultancy firm will be an added advantageExperience in undertaking Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Audits, Social Safeguard data collection for development projectsExperience writing Environment and social Impact Assessment, Environmental Audit, Environmental Baseline data reports and make presentations on findings.Additional SkillsBe professional and able to work within a teamBe self-driven, and able to work with limited supervisionHave good communication skills and able to engage with clients both in written and spokenHave good writing skills able to write professional reportsJob Role and ResponsibilitiesPreparation of proposals, Expression of interest for environmental and social assessments for development projectsResearch and integrate new scientific findings in the field of environmental science into reportsKeep up-to-date with National Environmental and social legislation, to ensure continued compliance with environmental and social safeguards. Undertake Environmental Assessments as part of a Team for development projects from time to timeUndertake and coordinate data collection process Write ESIA, EA and Baseline reports based on client needsMake Presentation of ESIA, EA, Baseline reports with limited supervisionWork with the Technical team from Verdant Consulting
