About the ProjectAmico is proud to be part of Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP), the delivery team responsible for the Ontario Line South Civil, Stations, and Tunnel Contract, one of the most significant transit infrastructure projects in Ontario. The Ontario Line will transform Toronto’s transit network — connecting Exhibition Place to the Ontario Science Centre — and the TGP team is helping bring this vital project to life.Position SummaryThe Environmental Compliance Officer (ECO) plays a key role in ensuring that all construction activities meet the environmental standards, commitments, and regulatory requirements of the Ontario Line project. The ECO will oversee environmental compliance across multiple active sites, implementing the project’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and environmental control plans. The role involves close collaboration with construction teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to maintain environmental performance and uphold Amico’s commitment to sustainability.Key Responsibilities:Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and project-specific environmental requirements.Implement and maintain environmental control measures (Erosion & Sediment Control, Dust, Noise, Waste, and Spill Prevention Plans).Conduct regular field inspections and audits to verify that environmental controls are in place and effective.Monitor air, water, soil, and noise as required; review results and report deviations promptly.Lead environmental incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.Maintain records, inspection logs, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.Provide environmental training and awareness to field staff, subcontractors, and new hires.Coordinate with government agencies, consultants, and project partners on compliance matters.Track and close out environmental non-conformances and implement preventive measures.Support sustainability initiatives including recycling, waste reduction, and energy efficiency improvements.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.5–10 years of experience in environmental compliance or inspection, ideally within large-scale infrastructure, transit, or heavy civil projects.In-depth knowledge of Ontario and federal environmental regulations (MECP, Fisheries Act, Migratory Birds, etc.).Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 preferred).Proficiency in report writing, documentation, and regulatory communication.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.Valid driver’s license and ability to work across multiple active construction sites.Professional certification (EP, EPt, CRSP, or similar) considered an asset.What Amico Can Offer You:Competitive SalaryMedical, dental, and vision insuranceEmployer Matching Retirement ProgramLife insuranceAt Amico, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
