Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing food service swimming pools, on-site sewage management, water quality sampling and testing, tourist accommodations, body crafting, conducting home environmental surveys (i.e. Radon, lead) rabies control, emergency preparedness and other environmental issues. Functions as technical expert to staff and others including federal, state, counties, municipal and industrial officials, consultants and the public. Provides technical training to other professional staff and the public.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research, which includes one (1) year in a managerial or supervisory role. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who experience coordinating, investigating, and/or analyzing investigations of foodborne illness outbreaks or other disease outbreaks. With three to five years of professional level environmental health service program planning, evaluation, professional level experience in work related area or a current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian by the National Environmental Health Association in (NEHA) or the recognized credentialing board of a state or country having equivalent standards as NEHA. Strong competencies in the areas of oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, leadership, and planning the evaluation skills are also desiredAdditional InformationNOTE: Thank you for your interest in DKPH.
