Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Viet Nam?We OfferA traineeship of up to 6 months within the Trade Section of the EU Delegation to Viet Nam, starting in November 2025.
The Trade Section is a small team of dynamic trade experts that are responsible to ensure the full and effective implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Vietnam (EVFTA). This is one of first and most comprehensive FTAs with a major developing economy, Viet Nam. The Trade Section also engages in advocacy bringing together and supporting EU business and EU Member States in defending EU trade and investment interests in Viet Nam.
Reflecting the evolving priorities for EU policies on trade and economic security, the Trade Section also explores and develops in which ways EU-Viet Nam trade and investment relations may contribute to EU needs and ambitions. This includes following and reporting on relevant policy developments and reform in Viet Nam’s. For this, the Trade Section works very closely with the other sections of the EU Delegation, notably the operations and the political sections, and with public and private actors in Viet Nam.
It also works very closely with EU MS, with European business associations, and multilateral organisations, other diplomatic missions, ands business organisation present in Viet Nam. Main TasksUnder the supervision of the Head of Section, support the Trade Section in ongoing outreach, research and reporting activities, including:
Follow relevant Vietnamese and ASEAN policy developments, including on the possible impact on the implementation of the EVFTA and on EU trade and investment interest more widely,Support the organisation of and/or attend relevant workshops, meetings and other events,Assist regular meetings with EU MS Commercial Counsellors and with EuroCham Viet Nam,Prepare and/or contribute to analytical notes, briefings, reports and other written contributions under the supervision of the Head of Section,Contribute on a dedicated research and reporting theme on the forward looking EU engagement with Viet Nam (to be agreed and set upon taking-up the position at the Trade Section).
We Look ForQualifications or special requirements: University degree in the area relevant for international trade relations,Substantiated interest in EU needs and ambitions for future trade and economic security. A quick sense of learning and understanding, ready to work under time pressure and against deadlines. Service mindedness, a sense of initiative, and a good team player. Prior experience in operating in a multicultural environment is an advantageWorking language is English, spoken and written (minimum C1-level). Working level of Vietnamese language may be considered an asset. Proficiency in using the Office suite.

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected. The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens From EU Member Statesmust provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
