Inverell, New South WalesFull-timeDescriptionApplications are invited for the position of Events & Tourism Officer (Parental Leave), based at Council's Visitor Information Centre. Council reserves the right to offer an extension of this term contract to the successful candidate, contingent on operational requirements.For more information about Inverell Shire Council and the Events & Tourism Officer (Parental Leave) position please click here to access the Position Profile.Essential:Applicants should address the following Selection Criteria:QualificationsHigher School Certificate or equivalent OR NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement and satisfactory experience;NSW Class C Drivers Licence;Skills And ExperienceUnderstanding and knowledge of local tourism;Skills and experience in developing and delivering effective digital marketing;High energy, enthusiasm, ability to think outside the square and be creative;Demonstrated experience in the successful coordination of program and initiatives in related fields;Demonstrated experience in researching and reporting, inclusive of business cases;Ability to work to deadlines, to work efficiently with good time management skills requiring minimal supervision;Ability to work with Council, community groups, business owners and members of the public;Demonstrated strong computer skills including MS Office Suite; andWorking knowledge of work health & safety and equal employment opportunity.Desirable:QualificationsQualifications or appropriate experience in tourism and hospitality, commerce, economics, marketing, development or similar discipline.Skills And ExperienceWorking knowledge of tourism marketing, business development and community issues;Skills and experience to deliver a positive and effective corporate social media presence;Skills and experience to develop and publish content to the corporate website;Demonstrated experience in the successful coordination of program and initiatives in related fields;Demonstrated experience in researching and reporting, inclusive of business cases; andPrevious Local Government experience. Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be in a range from Operational Band 1, Level 3, Grade 6.
