Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of capital markets and corporate services in Bermuda, is currently seeking a Head of Risk and Compliance to join their team. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of statutory and regulatory compliance. They will be responsible for developing local policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and ensure these are implemented, monitored, and regularly reviewed to maintain the highest standards of quality. This role also involves working closely with the Group Risk & Compliance team to ensure alignment with Group Minimum Compliance Standards, along with any other duties required by the position.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesActing as the Designated Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer for licensed entitiesAdvising the board, executive committee, risk committee, managers, and staff on regulatory compliance, governance, risk management, and best practicesOverseeing the day-to-day management of the compliance team, including workload allocation, cross-training, and developmentMonitoring regulatory risk exposures and ensuring compliance frameworks are effective and fit for purposeLeading the development and maintenance of local policies and procedures in alignment with group standardsManaging the business acceptance process, including preparing summaries for board sub-committeesProviding KYC and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) guidance and oversightEnsuring timely completion of file reviews and audit checks within service level agreementsMaintaining compliance registers and monitoring systemsServing as the principal contact for the local regulatory authorityDelivering training on regulatory requirements, internal procedures, corporate governance, and AMLAttending management meetings and preparing regular compliance and regulatory reportsKeeping current with regulatory developments through ongoing professional developmentPromoting a strong compliance culture across all levels of the businessPrincipal contact for the Bermuda Monetary AuthorityQualifications, Skills & Experience5 years’ experience in a similar role.

Educated to Diploma levelProven leadership experience with a strong track record in managing and developing teamsExcellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills along with a commitment to working as part of a global teamStrong negotiation skillsAbility to delegate and develop others’ base skill setSuccessfully provides strategic support to practice areasStrong technical skills in relation to compliance and data protection legislation are essentialAbility to produce management information and to deliver projects within given deadlinesAll applications are handled in a confidential manner and in accordance with Expertise’s Privacy Policy, available on our website
