Fabrication Lead

SUMMARY: The Fabrication Lead, Swing shift, will oversee a team of approximately 8-10 individuals, responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring employees working in the fabrication department to ensure all fabrication-related tasks are completed on time and within budget. This position will be responsible for correcting timesheets within our timekeeping system, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and delivery standards. This role will report to the Fabrication Area Supervisor and will work hand in hand with other department leaders to meet project deadlines. Hours of operation; 4:30pm – 2:30am.Accountabilities:Communicate and collaborate with other leads and managers to achieve quality, safety, and delivery goalsEnsure all team members comply with all safety protocolsReview timesheets and team time management. Clocking into jobs and in and out of new jobs, assisting with providing direction on the app as neededManage the workload of the team to align with the production deadlinesAct as first point of contact for employee questions regarding company policies and procedures, attendance expectations, and other general questions from crew. Ensure the following tasks are completed according to standards in a timely manner:Lay-out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are metInstall, align, and lock/flip specified punches, dies, or other fixtures in rams or bed of brake press, using hand tools such as dial calipers and inspection gaugesSet up and operate specialized equipment and tooling for fabrication of stainless sheet metal productsStudy shop drawings, blueprints, work orders and production schedules to determine specifications such as materials to be used, dimensions and tolerancesClean and lubricate the machines, keeping them in good condition. Oversee that quality checklists are completed, and all steps are followed. Mentor, coach and train team members to work through tier levels within the Fabrication discipline. Recognize and reward team and individual successesElevate the need for conflict resolution and mitigation of grievances and complaints to supervisor. Provide team members with an initial 90-day overview of how they are preforming on assigned tasks, outlining needed improvements and recognizing mastery of tasks thus far. Provide input on annual reviews thereafterOngoing performance feedback coaching through meeting with employees 1x1Required Knowledge/Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent is desired OR any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties (required). At least 3 years of experience related to FabricationAt least 1 year as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) collaborating with teams troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving basic to complex issues. Experience leading by example showing a strong commitment to the employees and company. Collaborate with coworkers and peers to encourage teamwork and accountabilityExhibit consistent time management skills and adapt to quickly changing priorities. Consistently wear and enforce donning of PPE such as protective eyewear, hearing protection, weld hoods, safety clothing etc. Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment requiring the employee to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch throughout an 8-to-10-hour day. Strength to carry product, equipment, and tools up to 50 pounds and push or pull product up to 100 pounds.
