Splicing is the production process utilizing heated molds to join the ends of pre-cut rubber strips to form circular gaskets.Address: 77 Carlingview Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9W 5E6Principle Accountabilities:Maintain working area is safe & clean before starting workEnsure mold temperature has reached its setting prior to splicingPerform tasks to prepare strip for splicing as required, e.g., dipping, sanding, heating, cleaning strip ends, etcVerify rubber strip for straight cut and clean ends prior to splicingLoad tape roll into tape machine and visually check qualityClose mold; auto timer will open once cure time is upVisually inspect gasket for cracks at splice, nibs, lumps, pinholes, and other defectsInject silicone into gasketBreak splice seal using pneumatic anvilPlace the gasket on the silicone spreader & check for leaksVerify the accurate amount of gaskets are put into each boxDocument and record all required informationPerform other duties as required by supervision to meet production requirementsMust be able to meet and maintain company quality and production requirementsAdhere to company policies and procedureRequirementsHigh school diploma is preferredRead write and speak basic EnglishMust be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our gasket manufacturing processBenefitsBeing part of an inclusive team that fosters a good atmosphereLife InsuranceExtended Health CareDental CareVision CareRetirement Savings PlanComplexity & JudgementEncounters quality issues & machine faults which need to be reported to the Shift SupervisorContactsInteracts on a daily basis with Shift Supervisor, Lead Hand and Q.A. InspectorOccasional interaction with Production Manager, Operational Excellence Team, Health & Safety Manager, Plant Manager and other departments as requiredWorking ConditionsIncumbent spends almost 100% of his/her time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of light physical labour. Lifting, pulling (less than 15 lbs.), standing and walking cover the majority of the work.
