Job Description

Job SummaryThe Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of all data center infrastructure systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and building management systems. This role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance activities, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives to support uptime, energy efficiency, and sustainability goals.Key Responsibilities1. Operations & MaintenanceMonitor, operate, and maintain critical facility systems: UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, PDUs, BMS, and EMS.Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and support corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and uptime.Conduct regular inspections and testing of critical systems and equipment.Respond to facility alarms and emergencies, performing troubleshooting and recovery.2. Reliability & PerformanceTrack, analyze, and improve system performance through metrics and trend data.Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for any incidents or equipment failures.Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance techniques.3. Project SupportSupport design, commissioning, and acceptance of new data center infrastructure projects or expansions.Collaborate with design, construction, and IT operations teams to ensure smooth project integration and transition to operations.4. Vendor & Contractor ManagementSupervise external vendors and service providers during maintenance and construction work.Review and approve maintenance reports, method statements, and risk assessments.5. Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate documentation including drawings, O&M manuals, and maintenance logs.Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.).Support audits and internal compliance reviews.6. Energy & SustainabilityMonitor energy consumption and recommend optimization measures.Support initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related discipline).Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, Uptime Accredited Tier Specialist, or Data Center Facility Professional) are a plus.Experience:3–8 years of experience in data center, mission-critical, or industrial facilities environments.Hands-on experience with critical power and cooling infrastructure.Strong understanding of BMS/EMS systems and facility automation.Technical Skills:Knowledge of electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDU, etc.) and mechanical systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, pumps, cooling towers).Familiar with maintenance management systems (CMMS).Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.Soft Skills:Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to work in a 24x7 operational environment (including shift or on-call rotation as required).Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Data center uptime and system reliability.Maintenance compliance and completion rate.Incident response and resolution times.Energy efficiency and cost optimization.Compliance with safety and operational standards.
