Position Title: Fair Hearing and Appeals CoordinatorTitle of Immediate Supervisor: Manager of Fair Hearing and AppealsSalary Range: $55,324-$81,738 (DOE)SummarySupports the Fair Hearings and Appeals Manager in the consistent implementation of fair hearing procedures. Represents the agency in informal meetings, mediations, and fair hearings. Serves as a point of contact for the community regarding complaints. Assists with the investigation of 4731 complaints.Essential DutiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily with minimum supervision. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Represents SCLARC at informal meetings, mediations, and fair hearings on assigned cases.Collaborates with persons served and families to reach resolution of fair hearing issues when possible.Works closely with the Fair Hearing and Appeals Manager with regards to Hearings and Mediations to develop fair hearing strategies and objectives.Supports the Manager, Fair Hearings and Mediation in the consistent implementation of fair hearing procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.Serves as a point of contact for the community regarding complaints, follows up internally as appropriate, and works with persons served and families regarding resolution.Acts as the Custodian of Records as it relates to record requests.Assists with investigating and responding to 4731 complaints.EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Sociology or a related field required. A minimum of three years’ experience at a regional center, specifically supporting the Fair Hearings Department.Other Skills And AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in both English and Spanish, at the highest professional level with members of management, SCLARC’s Board of Directors, the Department of Developmental Services, community partners, vendors, public groups, SCLARC staff, persons served and their families.Demonstrate leadership qualities and ability to define issues and make recommendations to produce positive outcomes.Must be proficient in the use of a computer.CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONSProof of valid California driver’s license and auto insurance.
