While FAO Headquarters and Regional Offices have dedicated staff for this purpose, there is a growing need for specialized media outreach personnel at the country level to elevate the organization’s presence in national and local media, as well as on broader platforms. Reporting LinesThe Driver will work under the direct supervision of the FAO Head of Operations in PNG.
Tasks And Responsibilities Drives vehicle to transport relevant FAO staff, relevant government counterparts, and any other authorized personnel; Meet officials at the airport and assist with immigration formalities and customs clearance as required; Deliver correspondences and packages immediately to recipients.
Ensure that the transport needs are known before leaving for mail deliveries; Ensure that the vehicle is kept in good condition, maintains cleanliness, conducts routine check-ups on the vehicle, and advises when due for servicing; Ensure that the vehicle registration/ third party insurance and road worthiness are valid; Report vehicle accidents immediately to the office in line with local regulations and obtain quotations for vehicle repair and maintenance, if applicable; Maintain a log of official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, etc; Assist with clerical tasks such as photocopying, binding, scanning, sending faxes, when requested; Assist in receiving and making official calls, when requested; and Perform other related duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGMinimum Requirements Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent). A valid driver’s license (often category B, sometimes D depending on vehicle types). At least 2–4 years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record. Experience with clerical or administrative support functions.
