Job Summary:The Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting and selling the company’s hardware and electrical products to customers across the island. Majority of the time will be spent on the road visiting customers, construction sites, and contractors to generate new business and strengthen existing relationships. The remaining time will be spent in the office completing quotations, preparing reports, following up on client accounts, and coordinating with the internal team.A motor car is a strong asset for this position, as field visits and client engagement are essential components of the job.Key Responsibilities:1. Sales and Business Development (Field-Based – 60%)Visit contractors, construction companies, and corporate clients to promote the company’s range of hardware, building, and electrical supplies.Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s customer base.Conduct regular follow-up visits to ensure customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.Deliver product samples, quotations, and promotional materials to clients.Provide on-site support and recommendations to customers on product selection and usage.Monitor competitor activities and market trends, reporting key findings to management.Maintain a professional company image while representing I.G.S Hardware & Electrical in the field.2. Office and Administrative Duties (Office-Based – 40%)Prepare and issue sales quotations, invoices, and follow-up correspondence.Record and update customer information and sales activities in company systems.Coordinate with the inventory and purchasing departments to confirm product availability.Assist with processing orders, arranging deliveries, and monitoring outstanding payments.Prepare weekly sales reports, route summaries, and customer feedback reports for management review.Attend internal sales meetings and participate in planning promotional activities.3. Customer Service & Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers through consistent and reliable service.Handle customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints promptly and professionally.Ensure clients receive timely responses and support for special orders, deliveries, or technical assistance.4.Product & Market KnowledgeMaintain comprehensive knowledge of hardware and electrical products offered by the company.Stay informed on new arrivals, promotions, and seasonal offers.Advise customers on suitable products for their specific projects or business needs.5.Qualifications & Requirements:5 or more CXCs; certification in Sales, Marketing, or Business is an advantage.Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales, preferably in the hardware, construction, or building supply industry.A reliable motor car and valid driver’s licence are essential assets for this role.Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Good computer skills; ability to prepare quotations and reports using Microsoft Office and POS software.Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently while on the road.Knowledge of tools, electrical fittings, plumbing, and general hardware products is an asset.6.Working Conditions:Fieldwork (visiting customers, construction sites, and suppliers).Office work (paperwork, reporting, client follow-up).Regular hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, with flexibility as required.May occasionally be required to travel outside the Kingston Metropolitan area.7.Compensation:Competitive base salary plus potential commission/incentive based on sales performance.Fuel allowance or travel reimbursement (where applicable).Other benefits in keeping with company policy.
