Most of our staff at NLB consist of men and women personally impacted by addiction, whether by their personal experience or the experience of a loved one.OverviewThe Finance Manager’s role is to support the company’s bookkeeping and key accounting processes while providing accurate and timely financial reporting to the executive team. This role focuses on ensuring operational accuracy across bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger management. Working closely with the rest of the accounting and payroll team, the Finance Manager will partner with the VP of Administration to support operational management. This role includes both independent work and team collaboration. This individual possesses a strong accounting background, strong analytical skills, spreadsheet experience, and experience in the preparation of financial statements, reporting, and financial analysis. Other responsibilities include oversight of the routine accounting operations, which includes financial statement preparation, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, A/R, A/P, and payroll.Duties And ResponsibilitiesFinancial Entries and Reporting:Manage and coordinate the process of closing the monthly general ledger, including the preparation of the financial statements, consolidated reporting, Cash Flow forecasts, and monthly financial statement forecastingPrepare account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts for each month’s endCoordinate the detailed analysis and review of the inventory, significant balance sheet account analysis, including accruals, and signs-off on specific material general ledger journal entries as part of the monthly close process. Record, review, and analyze the inventory annually or as needed.Assist the Executive Director and Vice President of Administration in managing and optimizing cash flow by maintaining daily and monthly bank reconciliations for all banks and loans and managing incoming and outgoing wire and ACH paymentsWork with the Executive Director and Vice President of Administration to direct and coordinate the financial tax reporting, fixed asset reporting, reconciliation to general ledger and monthly sales and use tax analysis and reportingCollaboration And ProcessesAssist the Executive Director and Vice President of Administration in the budget preparation and forecast of the current year planAssist in the annual audit activities with external auditorsPerform ad hoc financial modeling to support existing and new business decisions as requestedParticipate in financial review and overview on an ongoing basis with the organization’s departments to achieve accurate record keepingMaintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that reflects No Longer Bound’s Core Values and serve as a resource for problem-solving and continuous improvement initiativesSupport operations in financial analysis for lean and cost improvement projects and direct opportunities within the Accounting Department to drive out non-value-added-activitiesIdentify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency, and implement automation tools.ComplianceManage financial internal controls and financial policies to ensure conformance and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other statutory requirementsAssist in the maintenance the internal controls of the company and updates the controls as financial systems or financial processes are modifiedJob QualificationsMinimum Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting. A master’s degree and a CPA is preferredSkills and Qualifications: Well versed in managerial accounting in a non-profit and retail environment Minimum of 5 to 7 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial reporting experience, ideally in a small to mid-sized company Experience using QuickBooks Enterprise accounting system, well-developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage integrated applications PC literate and proficient with MS Office Suite including advanced Excel skills Hands-on experience with bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, AP/AR, and general ledger management Has the ability to lead, collaborate, influence and build relationships with all levels of the organization and manage a team to implement new projects Excellent written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal communication skills, and excellent organizational skills Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to individuals in recovery Strong organizational and data management skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionPhysical Demands: The employee may need to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, working at a desk or computer workstation, constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery. The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and colleagues, exchanging accurate information in various situations. occasionally moving boxes and other items weighing up to 20 pounds across the office for various needs.
