 ABOUT US Wyer & Co. is an integrated Landscape Design practice, founded by Anthony Wyer in 2005.Based in Syd­ney, Wyer and Co. is team of archi­tects, design­ers, hor­ti­cul­tur­al­ists and con­struc­tion spe­cial­ists who col­lab­o­rate with our clients to cre­ate, con­struct, and main­tain, excep­tion­al land­scapes, for excep­tion­al homes.  POSITION SUMMARY Wyer & Co. is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Finance Officer to lead the day-to-day financial operations across multiple business divisions. This pivotal role supports strategic growth, ensures strong financial governance, and contributes to the overall financial health of the organisation. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical accounting expertise and commercial acumen, delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and insights to support informed decision-making at all levels. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Operations & ReportingOversee daily finance and accounting functions across all business divisions.Manage cash flow to maintain sufficient liquidity for operational needs.Reconcile banking, credit cards, division-specific project software, and Xero.Prepare financial statements and manage accounts receivable/payable.Process payables via Xero, banking platforms, and Pay.com, ensuring correct cost centre allocations through ApprovalMax.Manage receivables and debt collection, including direct client follow-up.Collaborate with Design, Construction, and Maintenance division managers on billing, expenditure, cash flow, and overdue accounts. Client & Supplier AccountsPrepare and issue client claims and invoices, ensuring alignment with budgets.Respond promptly to billing queries from clients and suppliers.Ensure billing accuracy and prevent duplication.Issue remittance advices in a timely and professional manner. Reporting, Budgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisPrepare and distribute weekly sales reports by division, including suspense deposits and billable hours (due every Wednesday COB).Produce monthly and quarterly management reports, including profit & loss statements.Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and track budgets and forecasts aligned to business goals.Conduct financial analysis to assess performance, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights.Maintain regular communication with external accountants and book keepers as required.Strengthen internal controls and compliance with financial policies.Lead continuous improvement of financial systems and processes, embracing technology to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Compliance, Superannuation & Insurance Support the General Manager and book keepers with:Preparation, lodgement, and payment of IAS, BAS, Superannuation, and Payroll Tax.Maintaining all insurance policies including iCare, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Business, Vehicle, Cyber, and Management Liability.Managing payroll processes and responding to staff payroll-related queries. End-of-Year Financial & Insurance AdministrationLead end-of-financial-year activities: balance sheet reconciliation, updating asset register/inventory, depreciation, and leave balances.Oversee annual wage reconciliation, group certificates, and workers’ compensation declarations.Manage insurance renewals (December). Additional DutiesProvide ad-hoc financial support for the Founder & Creative Director’s personal financial affairs, including expense tracking, tax documentation, and general bookkeeping as required. About YouYou thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment where flexibility, accuracy, and strategic thinking are key. You’re a detail-oriented, hands-on finance professional with excellent communication skills and a passion for improving systems and outcomes. Key Selection CriteriaCA/CPA qualification (or equivalent), or substantial experience in bookkeeping and financial management.Experience in the construction, design, studio and/or related sectors (preferred but not essential).Strong capabilities in financial analysis, cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across internal teams, clients, and suppliers.Adaptable and proactive with a solution-focused mindset.High level of integrity and confidentiality in all matters.
