The OpportunityWe're currently looking for a Financial Accounting Manager to join our Polestar Nordic finance team, to manage the accounting and financial reporting functions across the Nordic region. This role is part of the Nordic management team and reports to the CFO Nordic.The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with limited travel required. We believe in a hybrid working model, balancing remote and onsite work, recognising the value of both in-person collaboration and focused individual time. What matters most is that people have the time and support to do what needs to be done—and to enjoy doing it, of course.The ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will manage our outsourced accounting partner and oversee day-to-day accounting activities, acting as the link between the region, accounting, and controlling teams.Key Responsibilities IncludeManaging and overseeing accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, and inventoryLeading, reviewing, and approving activities related to the close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in coordination with internal teams (Group Accounting, Tax, etc.)Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliancePreparing and presenting financial statements, reconciliations, reports, and analyses to senior leadershipEnsuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and all relevant legal requirementsManaging partnerships with external auditors, tax/regulatory authorities, and vendorsDriving process improvements and leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracyLeading, mentoring, and developing the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvementThe Ideal CandidateWe’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and communicates with confidence across all levels. You’ll enjoy diving into accounting queries, resolving complex issues, and responding to questions with a keen eye for detail. This role involves working cross-functionally with internal teams and managing relationships with external stakeholders, so interpersonal skills are key.Although this isn’t a line management position, we’re seeking someone who brings leadership qualities, who can coordinate effectively and influence outcomes both within the team and externally.In Addition, You’ll Need The FollowingA bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field5+ years of progressive accounting experienceProven experience managing and collaborating across shared service teams, ensuring high-quality performance and effective partnershipsDeep knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reportingExperience working in a U.S.-listed company environment, with a strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other regulatory requirementsProficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with dealership management systems is a plusPolestar is an international company with a diverse team.
