Role: Financial Analyst Location: North Toronto (Yonge & Finch area)Schedule: Hybrid (4 days onsite per week), shifting to fully onsite in January 2026Hours: 37.5 hours per weekContract Term: Ongoing project-based assignmentDuration: 3 months to startWe’re assisting our client, a well-established organization in the public sector, with the search for a Financial Analyst to support a large-scale financial reconciliation project. This is a full-time contract role based in North Toronto (Yonge & Finch area) with a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in office, transitioning to fully onsite (5 days/week) starting January 2026.This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in clearing a significant backlog of financial settlements and contribute to a high-impact initiative affecting communities and stakeholders across the region.The successful candidate will support the review and completion of financial settlements for municipal and transfer payment recipients. With over 400 recovery files dating back to fiscal year 2019–20, this role requires a detail-oriented professional with experience in public sector finance.Responsibilities:-Analyze and review year-end financial settlements for municipalities and transfer payment organizations-Monitor and report on the progress of file processing and settlement completion-Draft year-end settlement letters and coordinate approvals from senior leadership-Liaise with external stakeholders to issue finalized letters and communicate outcomes-Manage appeals and negotiate financial adjustments or recoveries-Ensure adherence to applicable financial policies and proceduresRequirements:-Strong understanding of accounting and financial management principles-Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, and risk management-Previous experience working in or with a government ministry or public sector organization is essential-Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings clearly-Strong written and verbal communication skills-Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentIf you're a finance professional with public sector experience and enjoy roles that require precision, analysis, and cross-stakeholder collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.
