TITLE Financial Analyst, Distribution SALARY RANGE$75,000 - $85,000CASH BONUSUp to 10%THE PERKS Standard Health Benefits Professional Development Support RRSP Match Up To 3%3 Weeks Vacation LOCATION Mississauga, ON THE OFFICE Hybrid, 3 days in officeTEAM SIZEUnder 10 peopleTHE ROLE An individual contributor role responsible for managing corporate rebate analytics, financial reporting, and strategic business analysis with direct exposure to executive leadership.Month-End Rebate Management (35%) Business Reporting & Analytics (35%) Ad Hoc Projects & Special Initiatives (30%) THE TASKS Month-End Rebate ManagementPrepare and validate monthly rebate accruals with exceptional accuracy for distribution across multiple divisionsReview supplier transaction imports for correctness and reasonableness of amounts, volumes, and consistencyGenerate and review debtor reports and transaction reports required for month-end closeTrack and reconcile supplier payments received against rebate accruals in the systemSubmit month-end outputs and reconciliations to accounting contactsMaintain organized backup documentation for internal and external audit requirementsPrepare and provide rebate documentation, calculations, and reconciliations for audit support activitiesBusiness Reporting & AnalyticsBuild and maintain financial models analyzing supplier profitability and margin optimization opportunitiesCreate monthly scorecards and performance reports for executive decision-making on purchasing strategyDevelop comparative analysis reports by supplier, product family, and category performance metricsIdentify risks and opportunities within rebate structures to maximize financial returns and threshold achievementsPresent data in clear, presentable formats for general managers and VP-level stakeholdersPrepare and submit required parent company reporting on purchases and associated rebatesRespond to ad hoc queries from general managers regarding rebate performance and supplier questionsMonitor and analyze branch performance metrics and turnaround initiativesAd Hoc Projects & Special InitiativesPartner with IT consultant to test and validate requirements for new rebate management systemSupport process improvement initiatives using data manipulation and automation toolsCollaborate with VP of Supplier Relations on supplier strategy discussions and optimization opportunitiesAssist with special projects assigned by CFO and finance leadershipParticipate in supplier meetings with executive team to discuss performance and strategyInvestigate discrepancies between system accruals and supplier reports to determine root causes THE COMPANY A national distribution organization providing essential products and solutions to businesses across Canada through an extensive supplier network and multi-division structure. THE EXPECTATIONS TIMELINE PREVIEW By Month 1 Learn the existing rebate management system and reporting outputsUnderstand reporting requirements and cadence for month-end deliverablesBuild relationships with key stakeholders including accounting teams and supplier relationsDemonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in initial report submissionsBy Month 3 Successfully contribute to new rebate management system testing and validation Independently execute month-end accrual process with minimal supervision Establish credibility with general managers through responsive and accurate analysis Understand data flows from suppliers and internal systemsBy Month 6 Navigate the business landscape from a rebate and purchasing perspectiveDemonstrate developed knowledge of supplier relationships and product families Identify key suppliers by category and provide comparative performance analysis Build proactive analytical models that support executive decision-making By Month 12 Proactively identify opportunities to maximize rebate accruals and optimize supplier strategy Provide strategic recommendations based on trend analysis and threshold modeling Take ownership of process improvements and automation initiatives Establish yourself as a trusted business partner to supplier relations leadershipTHE SKILL SET 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, rebate administration, revenue accounting, or commercial analytics Strong Excel skills with advanced data manipulation capabilities (Power Query and Alteryx experience highly valued) Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all deliverables ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED.
