Permanent Role | Live Onsite | NZ$100,000 – $120,000Flockhill Lodge is New Zealand’s premier alpine luxury lodge, located just 90 minutes’ drive from Christchurch. As we head into our busy second summer season, we’re seeking a hands-on hospitality savvy Financial Controller to join our Lodge leadership team and play a key role in supporting operational and financial excellence. Staff accommodation is available onsite. About the RoleThe Financial Controller reports directly to the Lodge General Manager and works closely alongside our Assistant General Manager & Heads of Department. You’ll be just as comfortable getting into the detail of stocktakes and costings as you are developing robust monthly reporting and delivering meaningful insights to support decision-making.This is a highly collaborative role with a strong operational focus — a chance to blend financial discipline with the realities of hospitality service delivery. You’ll also have one direct report (Assistant Accountant) based in Christchurch. Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with Heads of Department on stocktakes, costings, and inventory controlDevelop and deliver accurate monthly reporting, analysis, and commentaryEnsure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and tax requirementsSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reportingProvide financial insights to identify opportunities for operational improvementOversee accounts payable/receivable, guest billing, and payroll functionsManage and mentor one direct report (Assistant Accountant, Christchurch-based) About You5+ years of accounting experience, with hospitality or hotel exposureCA/CPA or equivalent qualification preferredStrong knowledge of accounting principles and reporting standards (IFRS/USALI a plus)Hands-on experience with stocktakes, costings, and operational financeExperience with monthly reporting and insights to Heads of Departments and ManagementExcellent communication and relationship skills — able to influence and support non-financial managersAdvanced Excel/data management skills; experience with Xero, RMS, or BI tools desirableFlexible, pragmatic, and ready to balance strategy with day-to-day delivery Why Flockhill?Live and work in one of New Zealand’s most spectacular alpine landscapesPlay a key role in shaping the financial performance of a world-class luxury lodgeEnjoy daily staff meals and onsite accommodationBe part of a collaborative, values-led team entering an exciting growth phase
