Financial Controller RoleCompany OverviewOur client is a long-established, SME manufacturing business based in West Cork. Known for its commitment to quality, reliability, and strong customer relationships, the company has built a proud reputation within its sector.As the business continues to grow, they are now seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and play a key role in supporting the ongoing success and of the company.Role OverviewThis is a broad, all-encompassing role suited to a practical, commercially minded accountant who enjoys working closely with both management and operations.The Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management — from producing monthly accounts and managing cash flow, to improving systems and providing real-time financial insight to the Company Directors and wider team.You’ll be comfortable being hands-on, taking responsibility, and adding value in a business where your contribution is valued.Key ResponsibilitiesTake full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function.Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L, and balance sheet reconciliations.Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and bank relationships.Handle payroll, VAT returns, and other statutory compliance requirements.Work closely with the Directors on budgets, forecasts, and business planning.Provide meaningful financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making.Monitor and analyse production costs, margins, and stock control.Oversee the year-end process and liaise with external accountants/auditors.Review and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls.Supervise and develop a small financeSkills & Experience RequiredQualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).Experience in a similar hands-on finance role, ideally within an SME or manufacturing environment.Strong technical accounting knowledge with attention to detail.Practical experience in management accounts, cash management, and payroll.Proficiency with accounting software) and good Excel skills.A proactive, reliable, and down-to-earth approach.Excellent communication skillsCommercial awareness and an interest in the operational side of the business.What’s on OfferCompetitive salary €70,000 -€90,000 (doe) plus packageOpportunity to join a respected business with a supportive and close-knit culture.Varied, hands-on role with genuine influence over the company’s success.Stability, autonomy, and the chance to make a real impact.ContactTo discuss this role further or other accountancy jobs please contact Jean O'Donovan on 01 5927846 or by email j.odonovan@brightwater.ie
