Financial ControllerLocation: Head office, London W1Reports to: CEO, LondonSalary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)Working Pattern: Hybrid Role OverviewPlaying a pivotal role in a rapidly growing international fragrance brand, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance function. This is a hands-on role for a technically strong accountant who can ensure robust financial control, provide insightful management information, and support the company's ambitious growth plans.About Perfumer HPerfumer H is the creative vision of British Perfumer maker, Lyn Harris who gives uncompromising insight to her craft through the creation of beautiful, unconventional fragrances. We strive to inspire our customers through unique olfactory landscapes, whilst redefining the notion of what a luxury brand encompasses.We have three standalone stores in London, a concession in Liberty, a standalone store in Paris, a concession in Le Bon Marché; plus stores in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul; as well as 150+ wholesale accounts represented in territories all over the world.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting, Control & AnalysisProduction of timely and accurate consolidated monthly management accounts for the UK, French, and Japanese entities.Provide clear and insightful commentary on performance, explaining variances to budget and prior year.Lead the month-end close process, including the reconciliation of all key balance sheet accounts (debtors, creditors, cash, intercompany) and trial balance.Manage the preparation of accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers.Prepare the annual budget and regular quarterly forecasts.Oversee the UK and French monthly payroll processes.Cashflow & Treasury ManagementPrepare and maintain a 13-week rolling cashflow forecast, monitoring cash movements and proactively informing senior management of any issues.Manage debtor and creditor ledgers to optimise working capital.Tax & CompliancePrepare and submit UK corporation tax returns and ensure timely payments.Ensure all statutory deadlines are met for PAYE, pensions, and other compliance filings.Liaise with external accountants for the preparation of international tax returns and statutory accounts.Establish, maintain, and enforce robust financial policies and procedures.Systems & Team ManagementPartner with the Operations Manager to source and implement a new inventory management system.Manage and mentor a Bookkeeper, with the potential to grow the team in the future.Required Skills and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will be a technically proficient accountant with a strong grounding in core financial control and management accounting processes, ideally gained within an SME environment.ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), ideally from a Top 20 accounting firm background, providing strong SME exposure.Proven experience producing accurate management accounts to a tight deadline.Solid practical experience with multi-currency consolidations and managing intercompany balances.Demonstrable experience in balance sheet reconciliation and working capital management (debtors/creditors).Experience in building budgets and forecasts and providing analytical commentary on performance.Strong understanding of cashflow management and forecasting.Excellent, advanced Excel skills and high proficiency with financial systems.Desirable ExperienceExperience in a retail, consumer-facing, or manufacturing business.French language skills.Experience with French tax and accounting.Personal AttributesMeticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.Proactive, able to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Ability to troubleshoot problems and manage change effectively in a fast-paced environment.These requirements are a guide and do not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience, provided the requisite skills can be demonstrated.Perfumer H is an equal opportunity employer.
