We deliver timely, accurate, and engaging local news that keeps our listeners, viewers, and readers informed about the stories that matter most. Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and versatile Multimedia Journalist to join our newsroom.
The ideal candidate is a storyteller at heart—someone who can gather, write, and present compelling news content across multiple platforms, including radio, web, and social media. This role also involves covering breaking news, community events, public meetings, and human-interest stories. Key Responsibilities: Research, report, write, and produce original news content for radio newscasts, our website, Finger Lakes Daily News, and social media channels. Conduct interviews in person, by phone, or via virtual platforms. Cover breaking news, local government, community events, and feature stories. Capture and edit photos, audio, and short-form video for digital use.
Build and maintain relationships with community contacts and sources. Post timely, accurate updates to the web and social media. Work collaboratively with other reporters and on-air staff. Represent FLX Local Media/Finger Lakes News Radio at community events when required. Qualifications: Strong writing, interviewing, and storytelling skills. Ability to adapt content for different platforms and audiences. Proficiency with audio editing software; basic photo/video editing skills a plus. Ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple assignments. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Previous experience in journalism, broadcasting, or a related field preferred; recent graduates with strong skills encouraged to apply. Schedule: This is a full-time position with a schedule that primarily involves late afternoon and evening hours. Flexibility is essential, as the role also includes some weekend shifts and occasional on-call responsibilities for breaking news coverage.
