Frugal analyzes source code, billing data, and observability signals to pinpoint inefficient code patterns, recommend improvements, and automate fixes via pull requests.Embeds directly into developers' workflows to make cost optimization part of the development lifecycle.Combines engineering, FinOps, and automation to deliver practical, developer-friendly savings.Competitive salary, stock options, benefits, and flexible work options.About The RoleWe are hiring a FinOps Engineer to help engineering teams build more efficient applications. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of cloud architecture, software development, and financial accountability.You will work directly with customers to deploy Frugal, uncover cloud and managed-service waste, and help automate fixes that improve efficiency.What You'll DoDeploy and configure Frugal across customer applications and environments.Analyze cloud usage patterns across AWS (required), GCP, Azure, and managed services (e.g., Datadog, Snowflake, OpenAI, Vertex).Identify sources of cloud waste and recommend optimizations at app, service, and infrastructure layers.Collaborate with our engineering team to design and implement automation and tooling (scripts, pipelines, alerts) that surface and remediate inefficiencies.Integrate cost-awareness into development and release processes with engineering organizations.Act as a trusted advisor to customers, connecting cost decisions to product and engineering priorities.Feed customer insights into the product roadmap based on usage and architecture trends.What We're Looking For3–5+ years in FinOps, Cloud/Platform Engineering, SRE, or related role.Strong experience with AWS; familiarity with GCP/Azure is a plus.Working knowledge of common cloud managed services (compute, storage, networking, observability, queues, AI/ML APIs).Understanding of CI/CD, deployment workflows, and software development practices.Experience building cost dashboards, optimization playbooks, or policy-as-code automation is advantageous.Excellent communication skills; comfortable with technical and finance stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.Who You AreCurious and analytical—able to dig into ambiguous problems to find root causes.Comfortable speaking in technical depth with engineers and in business terms with finance leaders.Passionate about developer experience and shipping more efficient software.Location & PerksOpen to remote employees; preference for candidates in Ottawa and Toronto.Competitive salaries, benefits programs, stock options, and flexible work-from-home options.If you're excited to work with cutting edge AI technolgy with a fast growing startup, please apply.Skills: cloud,aws,finops,gcp,devops practices
