Job Description

Position SummaryThe Deputy Commercial Manager will lead the bank’s commercial strategy for the Merchant and SME segments, driving sales performance, market expansion, and customer acquisition. Working under the guidance of the Head of Commercial, this role is responsible for ensuring that the department’s commercial plan is implemented with precision, timeliness, and measurable impact. The position focuses on achieving revenue targets, building strong merchant relationships, expanding into new markets, and ensuring that all initiatives are executed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Commercial ManagementExecute the department’s commercial strategy as defined in the annual and quarterly business plans, ensuring targets are met or exceeded. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to adapt and optimize the sales approach. Support the development and launch of innovative banking and payment solutions tailored to merchants and SMEs. Ensure all commercial activities align with the bank’s strategic direction and uphold operational excellence. Merchant & SME Relationship ManagementMaintain strong relationships with existing merchants and SMEs while identifying and converting new business opportunities.

Proactively engage targeted prospects through calls, emails, social media, networking events, and site visits. Meet with merchants and SMEs to understand their needs, offering tailored solutions that address business challenges. Present FIB’s merchant and SME products effectively to generate interest, leads, and conversions. Follow up consistently to ensure customer satisfaction and explore upselling and cross-selling opportunities. Sales Performance & KPI ManagementDrive sales activities to achieve performance metrics for acquisition, transaction volume, and revenue growth. Monitor KPIs closely, identify performance gaps, and recommend corrective to the management. Ensure reporting systems provide accurate and timely data to support decision-making.

Operational OversightOversee the efficient operation of POS, Payment Gateway, Soft POS, cash points, and related merchant services. Conduct regular regional visits (Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Mosul, Kirkuk) to monitor market performance and support merchant growth. Coordinate with technical, compliance, and operations teams to resolve service issues swiftly. Ensure that execution timelines for new deployments and service improvements are met without compromise. Documentation & ComplianceGuarantee accuracy and compliance in all official documents sent to external agencies. Oversee archiving and sequencing of all sales orders, letters, and signed documents for easy retrieval.

Manage and ensure the timely and accurate completion of all KYB (Know Your Business) processes for SME accounts in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure all merchant and SME activities comply with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements. Leadership & Team ManagementLead, coach, and motivate the merchant and SME sales team to deliver on commercial objectives. Set clear expectations, track results, and provide constructive feedback to ensure high performance. Encourage professional development and promote a culture of accountability and ownership. Uphold adherence to FIB policies and professional ethics.

Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred). 5+ years of experience in commercial management, sales leadership, or business development (banking/fintech preferred). Proven success in meeting and exceeding sales targets for merchants and SMEs. Strong understanding of payment solutions, POS systems, and digital banking products. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills. Willingness to travel frequently across regions. Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong commercial and strategic acumen.
