Successful applicants will receive all recruitment related correspondence via the email account registered on the application form.Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment processJob OverviewUnscheduled Care/General Medicine are appointing a Fixed Term Appointment for IMT1 Non-Trainee cover based in Diabetes and Endocrinology Gwent Hospital with General medicine on-call commitments based in RGH.The expectation of the role is to provide junior grade support as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a 30 bedded sub-speciality ward. The post holder will participate in consultant led ward rounds as part of the MDT. You will participate in a rotational programme to experience all clinical aspects of medicine within the Royal Gwent Hospital and supported to meet individual training needs.The post holder will be expected to participate in the junior on call rota which is currently 1:10 working both days and nights. On average there are about 30-40 acute admissions per day through the AMU with a well-established front door model for Acute Medicine and Elderly Frail Medicine. The AMU is comprised of approx. 24 trolleys /beds, which the post holder will be covering when on-call.Main duties of the jobThe main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of the Consultant PhysicianThe duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and speciality with appropriate consultant supervisionThis will include the assessment, monitoring and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervisionAttend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds, and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorateUndertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progressComplete discharge summaries in a timely fashionAttend clinic as part of continuing professional developmentResearch and service outcome evaluation will be the key part of this job and you will have one session for this as part of this clinical fellow postWorking for our organisationAneurin Bevan University Health Board is a multi-award winning NHS organisation with a passion for caring.
