Job DescriptionJob Title: CAD/GIS OperatorDepartment: Tech ServicesReports to: Technical Services ManagerLocation: Florence AZJob Summary: The CAD/GIS Operator is responsible for creating technical drawings and maintaining document control processes for engineering, safety, and regulatory documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility. This position works closely with engineers, surveyors, and other mining personnel to ensure that all technical drawings and documents meet project requirements and standards. Key Responsibilities: CAD/GIS Operator Duties:
Create and modify detailed 2D/3D drawings and GIS maps of wellfield plans, site infrastructure, as well as preparation of schematics, figures, and maps for public affairs, safety and other departments. Collaborate with engineers, surveyors and geologists to interpret data and develop accurate technical drawings and site maps. Prepare layouts and assist in design for future construction including wellfields, civil works, process facilities, pipelines, and electrical components. Update and maintain as-built drawings to reflect changes in wellfield, electrical, and site process facilities as well as process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Perform quality checks to ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and project specificationsKeep up-to-date with CAD and GIS software advancements and implement any necessary updatesOperate unmanned aerial vehicles for data collectionDocuments Control Duties:
Manage and maintain a structured document control system for all technical documentsEnsure all engineering drawings, safety documentation, and regulatory records are properly filed and archivedTrack the status of documents and maintain document version control for revision and updatesDistribute documents to relevant team members, ensuring they have access to the latest revisionCoordinate with project managers and department heads to ensure all necessary documents are up to date and accessible for audits or inspections. Assist in the preparation of reports, records, and project documentation required by management and regulatory bodies. Review, prepare and present findings to Technical and Operations Personnel.
Ensure compliance with industry standards for document management and archiving QualificationsDiploma or degree in Drafting, GIS, CAD, or a related field5+ years of experience in CAD drafting and GIS mapping and document control preferred within the mining, civil, or construction industries Proficient in AutoCAD and ArcGIS softwareKnowledge of document control processes and software (e. g.
, SharePoint, Aconex, or equivalent)Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracyAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentsKnowledge of mining regulations and safety standards is an assetExperience managing GIS and other database systems including data input quality control & data base administration Experience with field data collection methods, including remote sensing and mobile data collectionEffective communication skill and the ability to work in a team-oriented environmentWorking ConditionsBased in an office environment with occasional site visits to active mining operationsMay involve extended periods working at a computer or in technical review meetingsAdhere to safety protocolsWill frequently work in field and plant areas to collect field data and verify drawings
