We are seeking a highly skilled Fluid Systems Engineer with deep expertise in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and systems engineering to join our dynamic, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of critical fluid-based systems in nuclear power plants and reactor rigs, ensuring safe and efficient operation while maintaining strict compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory standards.What we do at BlykallaBlykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems.What you’ll get to doAs a Fluid System Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing reactor cooling and auxiliary systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation across all stages of development. You’ll collaborate closely with experts across disciplines to deliver innovative and reliable solutions for our advanced nuclear technology. Your key responsibilities would be:System Design & AnalysisDesign, analyze, and optimize nuclear fluid systems, including reactor coolant, lead coolant, and hydraulic systems.Conduct thermal-hydraulic modeling, flow and pressure analyses, and develop 0D/1D system models to predict performance.Perform trade-off studies to optimize system efficiency, reliability, and cost.Systems Engineering & IntegrationDefine and manage system requirements, interfaces, and architectures using MBSE methods.Coordinate subsystem integration and maintain configuration control and technical documentation.Safety, Verification & Risk ManagementConduct FMEA and reliability analyses, identify and mitigate technical risks.Support the planning and execution of Verification & Validation (V&V) activities to ensure compliance with ASME BPVC, RCC-M, and ANSI standards.Documentation & CollaborationDevelop and maintain documentation such as flow diagrams, P&IDs, and safety reports.Collaborate with reactor, safety, and control engineers, and communicate technical concepts clearly to all stakeholders.Operations & Continuous ImprovementSupport testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fluid systems.Contribute to upgrades and process improvements for enhanced performance and compliance.Who you areYou will be part of a highly skilled team with a can-do attitude. There are a few things that will help you succeed in this role:Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience working in a similar positionDeep expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principlesProficiency in hydraulic modeling and simulation software (e.g., APROS, AFT, ASPEN, Flownex, Flomaster)Knowledge of nuclear reactor coolant systems, heat exchangers, and steam turbinesKnowledge of systems engineering process developmentStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detailProven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishMeritorious skills:The following skills are not required but will be considered an advantage:PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific disciplineINCOSE SEP (Systems Engineering Professional) certificationExperience with lead or other advanced coolants.Familiarity with nuclear waste system design.Field experience in commissioning or startup of industrial plants.Familiarity with ASME BPVC, RCC-M, regulatory body requirements, and ANSI standards for nuclear fluid systemsAbility to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organizationWritten and oral fluency in SwedishLocationThis position is based at our office in Stockholm.So, what do you think?Joining our team means being part of a supportive and innovative environment where your ideas are valued and your expertise is recognized.
