Job Description

Founder's Associate (all genders)We’re building the operating system for materials analysis.Right now, scientists spend far too much time battling outdated tools just to analyze their crystallographic data. That slows down progress in fields like renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials. The world relies on real progress in these fields fast. We’re fixing itIn just 18 months, Momentum Transfer has gone from spinout to seed-funded startup to the go-to platform for powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements as a service. You'll work directly with experienced founders, working on every dimension of building a venture—fundraising, sales, operations, product, partnerships—from the inside. We're looking for somebody who is ready to dive in and do what needs to be done. You're 1–3 years into your career—maybe you've done an internship or first role at a consultancy, bank, VC, or high-growth startup. Maybe you've just finished your MBA or Master's. You're sharp, organized, and ready for more responsibility than your current role offers. You don't need to have all the answers. You need to be eager to learn, reliable, and like dealing with complexity. We'll teach you the rest—with structured onboarding and direct mentorship from day one.The RoleThis is a central role where you'll operate as an extension of the founding team. You'll own strategic projects across sales, fundraising, customer development, and operations—across the areas that matter most. The work is varied and fast-paced: one day you're refining a financial model, the next you're preparing an investor report, then nurturing a relationship with a professor in Tokyo, then designing a process for how we sell to users in China—all while preparing a conference in Málaga.Your day-to-day will be a mix of building, coordinating, and problem-solving. You'll bring structure to ambiguity, keep projects on track, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You'll work with researchers, industry partners, and investors, translating complex stakeholder needs into action. And you'll raise the bar for how we operate—ensuring that every process, every communication, every deliverable reflects the quality our customers and investors expect. What we’re looking forExceptional organization – We're looking for someone who brings order wherever they go. You're the person others rely on to keep things structured, on time, and well-documented. Spreadsheets, project trackers, investor presentations—you manage complexity calmly and precisely.Clear communication – Our domain is technical and our stakeholders are global. You need to write clearly, speak confidently, and adapt your style for professors, executives, and investors alike. English fluency is required; additional languages are a plus.Analytical curiosity – You're comfortable building financial models and presentations. You like data. You don't need to be an expert yet—but you're excited to become one.Grit - More important than a checklist of experiences is the way you work. You stay friendly under pressure. You dig in and do the work when the deadline is close. You like knowing your stuff. You like other people. You are organized and you organize your environment.Who we are looking forWe need enthusiastic drivers — proactive people who take ownership of projects, see them through, and know when to pull others in for support. Our best team members don't wait for direction; they identify what matters most, focus, and deliver. We need optimistic problem solvers – Working at a scaling startup means things will get hard: coordinating across time zones, managing competing priorities, or navigating a tough conversation. The right people don't get discouraged—they collaborate, iterate, and keep moving until it's done.We need team players – Our work is demanding and our stakeholders expect reliability. That requires maturity: low ego, flexibility, kindness, and professionalism. We're a small, international team, and respect and consideration for one another is non-negotiable.And above all, we need genuine builders – People who love creating systems, processes, and relationships. Who take pride in making something work elegantly. Who would still be organizing and optimizing even if nobody asked them to. If that sounds like you, you'll fit right in.Why join usJoining Momentum Transfer means immediate impact. You'll work directly with founders on a company already serving 100+ paying customers worldwide, and the work you do will directly accelerate discoveries in energy, healthcare, and advanced materials. You'll have direct access to the founders—not in theory, but in practice.
