As a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas Corp, Seaspan delivers on the company's core strategy as a leading asset management and core infrastructure company.Position Description:The FP&A team is the center of analytical excellence to drive insightful business decisions and strategy across the organization, and is responsible for creating value and influencing behavior across the business through strategic and financial planning, forecasting, and creative analysis to derive insights. A successful Analyst is a continuous learner who is passionate about financial modeling, delving into data to find value, and building relationships to ensure alignment. The Analyst will support the Manager, FP&A and Senior Manager, FP&A, who are responsible for the direction and leadership of the group. This role has significant opportunity and room to grow as value is generated.Job Responsibilities:Develop, maintain and update financial models and analytics to support the organization’s financial decision-makingMaintain and develop processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reportingEnhance, develop, and prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts in normal course, and on an ad-hoc basis to explore value-add opportunities identifiedCollaborate and communicate effectively within the FP&A team as well as other stakeholdersDevelop long-term strategic forecasting including scenario analysisMonitor and report on KPI performance, trends, and variancesManage the development of new reporting tools and systemsIdentify and advise on potential risks and opportunitiesEvaluate opportunities to improve the efficiency and usability of financial reportingBecome a power user of the business’s newly implemented Oracle EPM platformExplore opportunities to simplify and enhance current processes and deliverablesAssist in long-term strategic forecasting including scenario analysisManage and coordinate the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and reportsRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field1-3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or field providing similar skillsetAdvanced knowledge of financial modeling and analysisAdvanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerpointExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to derive meaning from financial data and communicate resultsPositive mindset, energetic and strong desire to learnExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to develop strong working relationships and a team-first mentalityCreative mindset to think outside the box and develop new solutionsAdditional Desired Qualifications:Experience using a planning & budgeting application, ideally Oracle EPMExperience using BI applications, particularly Power BI, and coding/programming skillsExperience with automation workflowsJob Demands and/or Physical Requirements:Potential periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differencesCompensation and Benefits Package:Seaspan’s total compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.Seaspan Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
